Got this for our 8 y.o. to take on extended rides 8+ miles. He loves it especially the flames! Now he can ride and drink without swerving all over the trail trying to get to his water bottle. I don't have to worry that he will collide with another rider since it is so easy to use.

We also use this hiking, I just wish the top pocket was the full width of the pack and not a mini stash pocket. It has the space to put all of his essential day hiking gear in it if they made the zipper bigger. The compression pocket is too small to carry hat, gloves, rain jacket, and rain pants.

It comes with the new antidote hydration reservoir but it does not have the new quick clip system. This would have been a nice feature for use in winter by adding an insulated drinking tube.

Actually I bought 2 Mini-M.U.L.E.S for my good friend's twin 2 1/2 year old boys of average size. I wish there were photos like I have shown as that would have helped me make up my mind sooner. I searched all over the Internet to find something exactly like this product that would fit adventuresome kids of this age and size. I finally gave in to the 11" length measurement. The bags are only slightly big with all settings at minimum length meaning they will have many years to use the bags. I wanted to help transition them from watered down juice to straight water and this did the trick during the first 5 minutes. I got them excited about drinking from my Camelbak before giving them their own bags. I also wanted them to be able to be more self-sufficient. They were so excited about the bags they wore them to the farmers' market and used them to carry their own "cookies" from a booth. I have photos of them climbing, hiking and playing tackle with me while wearing the packs. The pack has a small zipper pocket on top for ID and small items; a larger zipper pocket for snacks in front; an expandable mesh area between for jacket or such. Highly recommend!
