I purchased this pack for day hikes, but certainly could use it for an overnight camp. This is a good, quality pack and I own several packs. I recently used this pack for a day hike while geocaching with my daughter. We hiked for about 8 miles total, on trails, off trails, and across the Etowah River. It took a beating on this trip with no problems.
What I like about this pack: - Not too big, but large enough for essentials - Lots of pockets and separate areas for "things" - Lots of loops and hooks for carabiners, etc. - Easy to adjust for comfort - Map flap...love a place for my maps - Durability
If you like to organize and separate all of your gear, this bag is a good choice. I don't like bags with one big compartment.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I bought this pack for my wife and I to use for school and day trips. Overall it is a decent pack: lightweight, ample / smart storage, comfortable, ample points of adjustment.
It is fair to mention that I have taken it on a few runs and day hikes on rugged terrain and the only issue I have with the pack is the adjustment straps are not rugged enough to remain in place as weight or stress is added to them. If I run with even a light load ( 20 lbs) or subject it to a lot of jostling on rugged terrain, I constantly have to tighten the adjustment straps.
Overall a good pack, only issue is the weak adjustment straps - hard to provide a "bottom line" without knowing what others will use it for:
Running / high performance - Not recommended All else - Recommended with confidence
