Comments about Kelty Jr. Tioga 34 External Frame Pack - Kids':

I bought this as the first "big kid" backpack for my 6 year old, who has been backpacking for 2 years now. It's great! We took it on its maiden trip to Point Reyes National Seashore (in the rain) for a 6 mile RT weekend. I was able to adjust the frame perfectly to her measurements (she's about 49" tall) and the multiple positions for shoulder strap width were great to avoid neck pinching. The waterproofing is excellent! We had some serious rain, and HER stuff stayed perfectly dry. I can't say the same for my old Camp Trails pack... She was hopping around like a mountain goat all weekend, and reported zero pain or soreness on Monday morning, even with a 10 pound pack (probably a little more with all the "cool rocks" she brought home with her...) My only gripe is the rings they used to secure the adjustment pins. They are really annoying to take off and put back on. I think I'll replace them with something easier to remove.
