Comments about Big Agnes King Creek 4 Tent:
We've done remote backpacking and car camping since the 1970s. We own and use our 1, 2, and 3 person tents, and this replaces our last 4 person tent that died after 12 years of use.
We got the King Creek 4 so we'd have a wind-free place to cook in when doing cold weather car-camping (15 degree F range). The vestibule is perfect for cooking. We've a safe stove set up for use in that area (but would not recommend cooking in the vestibule with white gas or multi-gas stoves: only low flame propane and only if you're seriously experienced with that). The space was fine for two adults, but I wouldn't expect to do this with kids around.
It was very comfortable for two bundled adults when the nights were long in late November. Lots of reading by headlamps in the evening. We liked that we could sit with ease in the vestibule and tent in low chairs. The mesh pockets inside were perfect for all sorts of stuff.
The tent is sturdy and has numerous possibilities for tying down and staking out. Our winds were in the 20-30 mph range and the tent held up just fine. We would expect no problems with higher winds.
Used a blue tarp under the tent part and left the vestibule area with open bare ground. That worked fine.
Having the ability to enter and exit on both sides of the vestibule was great--we could even enter and exit the other side of the tent, but didn't need to. We expect the vestibule will be good in the summer for shade and a breeze with both doors open.

Comments about Big Agnes King Creek 4 Tent:
My husband and I purchased this tent inspite of what the REI employees advised. We were looking for something that was going to keep our children worm. We returned the REI base camp tent because we froze in it. This tent did the job. Sure it has a higher peak than the base camp but it doesn't have as much mesh. The rain fly is amazing. It's like having a hole other room. Love it!

Comments about Big Agnes King Creek 4 Tent:
So far, have deployed this tent three times since July. Set up is easy, but the pole sleeve on the fly can be a pain sometimes. Though, that gets easier with each use. Got this tent after a camping trip at Cape Lookout, Ore. — near Tillamook — ended early because of coastal rains. The backpacking tent I had at the time just didn't provide enough shelter from the rain. I'm pretty positive that had I had this tent with its large vestibule/fly I would have continued the campout.
This tent is lightweight for car camping, but too heavy for backpacking, hence the contradiction in pros/cons.
So far, the tent is roomy. It's a four-person tent, but plenty spacious for two people and their gear. Vestibule/fly also offers plenty of gear storage for the camp hardware that comes along with car camping. I pack a tarp for extra ground cover under the vestibule just to keep dirt and debris from tracking into the tent.
The tent bag is compartmentalized for the fly, tent, poles, and stakes, making for good organization when setting up or packing up.
Liking this more and more after each use. May get to see how it performs in the rain once again after camping at Pismo in November. Until, I see how that goes, it gets a 4 out of 5 stars.

Comments about Big Agnes King Creek 4 Tent:
Just came back from our first weekend in the woods with this great tent. Very easy to set up and plenty of room. The rain fly almost doubles the covered space. We had rain and enough to prove that its water proof. At this point we really have nothing bad to say about this tent. I say buy this with confidence if you are looking for a large weather proof tent.

Comments about Big Agnes King Creek 4 Tent:
I took the advice of the sales rep at my local Rei store on which tent would be a great car camping tent. I was not familiar with Big Agnes as a company so I was a bit concerned on the quality of their products but the guy seemed very confident that I would be satisfied. And in almost every regard I was. The tent is spacious, easy to set up even with only one person. It has nice storage pockets on the interior sides. It has two doors with zippers that function without problem. The vestibule is very large and has potential for gear storage. This were my issues with the tent. First, it is a car camping tent so it is going to have a large footprint, this was something I was prepared for. The problem with having a large footprint is you are often limited on where you can place such a large tent at a family campsite. This was the case for us this past weekend when we headed up for a 3 day fishing trip at clear lake. The campsite had only once place that could accommodate our tent. There was a little dip in the ground where we set it up but we didn't have any choice. Set up the tent with the rain fly and settled in for the first night of rain. The vestibule was great for getting out of the rain and not letting water into the actual tent while kicking off your shoes. The problem we had with this tent is that some water slipped in between the tent and the footprint. Waterproof this bottom is not. Soaked right through and we ended up with a wet thermarest mattress and a wet sleeping bag. (Fly and floor are durable polyester rip-stop with 1500mm waterproof polyurethane coating) according to their website. I guess waterproof was a bit of an exaggeration. Second problem is more minor than the first. There was condensation that built up on the inside of the large vestibule. Didn't drip but when you were coming and going you would get a back soaked in wet as you grazed across the ceiling. Short of crawling I cant see avoiding this. I dont mind spending money on products as long as they deliver on what they promise. If this tent actually had a waterproof floor I think it would be a huge contender in the world of 4 person car camping. Instead, as I type this, its drying out in our living room preparing for its return trip to REI.
