Comments about Pearl Izumi All-Road Bike Shoes - Men's:

First about the sizing: I wear a men's 10 in Nike running shoes, chacos, my everyday work shoes (Patagonia drifter AC). Other reviewers I read said they ordered the size PI told them to order and it was too small. The chart says a 10 is a 44 so I ordered a 45. The 45 is good with regular socks like smartwool light hikers, but in the summer when I wear the thin smartwool running socks, they are a touch big. Not bad though. I guess maybe the size chart is correct and a 44 would be perfect.

As for the actual performance of the shoes, I think they far outperform their price. They are rigid enough that I don't feel they compromise too much power, but still allow me the flexibility to be able to wear them while I pull my kids in the bike trailer to the park and not suffer when I'm chasing them around the playground. Walking in my road bike shoes is like torture, but of course they are lighter and faster (and twice as expensive).

The material seems to clean-up well after muddy rides and I also like the reflective strips on the back, since my clipless pedals don't have reflectors. I typically clip an LED flasher on my seat bag if I'm gonna be out after dark, but some extra visibility doesn't hurt. Also two sets of cleat mounts, which also slide fore & aft give you a decent amount of adjustability.

Those counting grams may want to look elsewhere, but I think the weight is fine considering the price. I have noticed the tread at the toes has worn quicker than I thought, but not terribly.
