Comments about Cannondale Bad Boy Bike - 2011:
Just saw this was not available, glad I scored it! Really a great looking bike if you like the all black look. Price was right and a lot less with out the suspension fork, bike rides real well, just switched the tires with a wider set and perfect for occasional off the path riding. It's not a mountain bike but a great Hybrid perfect for Urban Commuting and some dirt when needed. Pretty light weight and even though the brakes are not hydro's they work really well. Would recommend it, and looks better than any other bike with the urban look. Geometry is tight and ride is reasonable for a non suspension bike. [...] I ordered it sight unseen, but knew it was going to be tight. Really dig the all black wheels. If you wanted to take it off road, put a suspension fork and some 40mm tires and you are good for light mt biking.
Service and delivery comments:
Super easy to order and showed up in a few days, due to restrictions in what stores can sell this brand I had it sent to another store to pick up.

Comments about Cannondale Bad Boy Bike - 2011:
I bought this Bike as a platform for a commuter bike and for road riding tours. I loved the subtle Semi-flat black paint scheme - Anti-bling if you will. I was torn between the package that REI offered here (with an entry level 3x8 drive train) and some of the other packages around town that offer a 8 or 9 speed rear hub for a commuter setup. I also found out that Cannondale offers this bike with an 8 speed rear hub in Europe but not the US! Darn! In the end, I wanted this stealth bomber bike, and liked the fact that having more speeds than a 1x8 would allow me to cross over into roadie territory and touring while still retaining the commuter utility. [...] I ended up [...] investing in a stronger rear derailleur (Shimano LX)and higher end mechanical disk brakes (Avid BB7's - I actually wanted mechanical disks over hydraulic which I run on my MTN bike - see KISS principle), replacing the sub-par entry level components the package came with. I brought the upgraded components over to the REI that built the bike and had them use these part for the build instead of what came with the package - didn't cost any extra. I actually can't comment on the Shimano Alivio rear derailleur or the Tektro Novela disks that it came with as I never used them - they may be fine for folks who use the bike for basic duties, I just wanted a more bomber package.Overall the bike is highly responsive like a Road package, and I like the thin, low profile wheels and tires the bike came with for road use. It handles well and tight at high speeds. There has been lots of attention by Cannondale to reflecting decals and paint (on the tires, frame, etc.) So it makes a great commuter for night riding safely. I added some lights, clip-less pedals, and other basics. I have been tempted to add a drop-bar and hoods to the Stealth Bomber ... well see ... Overall I am happy with the bike so far, and the only way it could be improved is if there were higher end components offered, although for the target market, the entry level components might be fine.
Service and delivery comments:
Arrived on time, was build promptly, shop let me use my own after market components, but had to be built at Cannondale specific REI, which ended up being further away for me.

Comments about Cannondale Bad Boy Bike - 2011:
I bought this bike new from REI about 9 months ago and have been very happy with it. I read the review below about the bike falling apart and definitely have not had that experience with it. I'll break my review down more below, but the bottom line is that this is a great bike for commuting or light off-road duty.
Commuting and Hauling. This was the reason I got it, and it works great. I added a rear rack and have carried everything from a milk crate filled with groceries to a toddler in a bike seat. The bike is nimble and handles great without any suspension on the road. You sit more upright than a road bike and the wheelbase makes it very stable. It's not super light with a rack installed, but it's aluminum so it is still relatively light and very stiff (but not unforgiving). The stock Kojack (sp?) tires are grippy and fast.
Off-road. The stock rims are 700c x 23 (I think), so you have some interesting tire options if you want to take this bike off road. After riding the stock tires for a while, I swapped them out for a pair of Vittoria Cyclo Cross tires. The Vittoria tires are 700c x 34 and fit fine with plenty of clearance even though they are wider than the stock tires. I used the stock tubes which work fine.
The bike rides great on some local fire roads and single track. It's basically like riding a 29er because the 700c wheels are the same size, but the skinnier tires make it more nimble and it's lighter than most mountain bikes. It basically handles like a cyclocross bike without the drop bars. Pick your lines wisely though, this bike can get stuck in ruts and other things because of the skinnier tires.
I originally thought I could put on some 29" mountain bike tires because they are the same diameter as 700c wheels, but after measuring I don't think a 2 inch tire will clear the rear fender mount. Definitely would fit in front, but probably not in back.
Another option that would work is mounting 26" mountain bike wheels and tires, but that's definitely more involved (have to switch or replace the discs, get another rear cassette or switch it out, etc.). But 26" tires fit just fine if that's what you're into.
The only gripe I had is with the disc brakes. They work okay but are not overwhelmingly powerful. Mine were so squeeky that the techs at REI had to switch them out with a brand new set (which they did for free). Now they only squeel a little but are still underpowered a bit. I'll probably ride these until they wear out and then got with the BB7's.
The shifters work fine, no slippage even under decent power.
So if you want a bike that has mountain bike geometry without the added weight of suspension, this is by far the best option out there. This frame is a sweet ride and you can always upgrade the components to make it a truly awesome bike.

Comments about Cannondale Bad Boy Bike - 2011:
Great all around bike. You can comfortably commute 20 miles daily to work as I do. You can use it for occasional mountain biking with the right tires. Or you can slip on some lightly treaded road tires for more inclement weather riding.I also looked at the Raleigh Misceo which is a similar build in all flat black with disc brakes. However, I chose the Cannondale Bad Boy (CBB) due to its higher grade components, overall quality [...].I'm a larger guy tipping the scales at 250 lbs and this bike handles nimbly with my weight and full panniers on the bike rack well. Love it.
Service and delivery comments:
Bike shop/bike technicians were prompt, professional, and extremely knowledgeable.
They made several adjustments to the handlebar stem and the seat to ensure that I had the "perfect" fit to ride 100 miles weekly. They balanced me on the bike (that was a feat standing stil) and made sure it ergonomically fit my runningback build. I'm so so happy I went with REI's bike team.
Love the free tune up after a few months on the bike.

Comments about Cannondale Bad Boy Bike - 2011:
My commute is an easy ride on a well maintained bike lane, and the bike is already falling apart. I've had this bike 15 days and the front derailleur has come loss and crashed into chain ring, handle bar cap fell off during commute, the tires lose about 20 psi per day and the paint is scuffed and sratched easily. I had to chase the threads for mounting the fenders and the click shifters poor quality. The front derailleur click shifter still slips back when shifting to the largest chain ring. I might as well have bought a bike at Wallymart.
