Comments about Marmot Oracle Rain Jacket - Men's:
Truly a great rain jacket. I'm a minimalist hiker/camper, and an urban/trail/commuter cyclist. Bought this rain jacket for one reason! Ventilation! The armpit zips are an awesome idea, 5 stars just for that option. I've hiked or cycled in Wisconsin to Alabama and never had a problem.
Pros: The armpit zips. Biggest pro you can get, especially in cooler climates. Tons of outer and inner pockets, you can loose your own hand in all those pockets. Adjustable hood, even in the back of the head (don't use the hood though). Great as a shell in colder climates with a good inner jacket.
Cons: The hood. I've never liked hoods, so never used it on this jacket, prefer a good waterproof wide brimmed hat. Nice that you can remove it, and you can put a marmot precip hat in the hood pocket.
All in all, it's a great jacket. I've used it on week long hikes, weekend hikes, commuting, with no complaints. 600 miles of trails, over 1000 miles cycling in the last year, and I'm totally happy.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Rain Jacket - Men's:
It is a good Jacket, for the weekend warrior. I have been using this jacket for the past month in Alaska, working as a Geologist. It is very waterproof, but with a full pack while hiking, you end up sweaty. The cuffs have fallen apart on me.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Rain Jacket - Men's:
I was looking for a jacket to replace the heavy, non-breathing rain jacket I have now...this jacket does the job.
I normally go on multi-day camping trips and I needed a jacket that would breath yet was light weight. This jacket is easy to quickly put on when the rain hits, as it did for my recent trip where it rained off and on all day for 2 days. I liked the hood, which I can just flip back behind my head when not needed but it doesn't get in the way. Very lightweight, I hardly realized it was there.
Only thing I would change would be to add a strip of Velcro about half way up the zipper so you could leave it unzipped (to allow better ventilation) but yet close it because while wearing a pack waist belt, the jacket puckers open right in this area. Right now I have to pull the zipper most of the way up so rain doesn't get in this area.
Good piece of gear!

Comments about Marmot Oracle Rain Jacket - Men's:
Got this jacket on clearance for half price. Love it, love it, love it. Zip-off hood is super convenient. Lightweight, has been very durable -- worn with a 25-lb pack, rain/mud, sleet. Just used it spring skiing with a synthetic running shirt underneath -- fantastic. I've never used a Gore product other than my hiking boots, so I can't compare the two for breathability, but this jacket is so useful for so many things it's a true bargain at any price given how comfortable it is.
I'm 6/4", 275 lbs, and the 2x fits perfectly.
The only downer is that the zips tend to catch the fabric too often -- sewing needs another stitch to keep fabric around zips from catching. Otherwise I highly recommend it.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Rain Jacket - Men's:
This is the best jacket I've bought to date. "Water resistant" jackets I've purchased in the past have absorbed water in heavy rain. And they've been overly bulky, which is a pain. But rain water beads off the Marmot Oracle, and it has a sleek fit which makes mobility really comfortable. Being over six feet tall it can be hard to find a jacket with long enough sleeves, but these sleeves go down almost to the beginning of my thumb.
But one of the best features is the fold-away hood (that can also be detached if you like). All other jackets I've bought have a separate hood. Nine out of ten days you don't need a hood and with my other jackets it just hangs there and gets in the way. So you take the hood off then get caught in bad weather and wish you had a hood! This jacket solves that problem. And you don't need to take the jacket off to unfold the hood. When you do pull the hood up, sometimes it's hard to find where you're supposed to connect the chin flaps so they don't...well, flap around in the wind.
I love this jacket and look forward to wearing it for many many years.

I use this jacket as my default around town and light hiking jacket. I have never gotten wet nor have I overheated. I bicycle a fast 40 minutes to work in this. My only minor irritation is that the zipper can snag. I've just become more careful when I zip it up and it works great!

got this as a gift and I've used it for daily commuting to/from work, especially in heavy, gusty downpours; the coat kept me perfectly dry. pit zips and a removal hood are a major plus. the membrane fabric breathes. And I love the chest pocket. So far, I haven't had any problems with zippers catching on the fabric or difficulty with the hood. only suggestion is to add another chest pocket.
Comments about Marmot Oracle Rain Jacket - Men's:
I liked this jacket when it was getting light use but when I had it out the other day in heavy rain and wind I realized that it has a severe flaw. The zip-off hood has these velcro tabs in the front that are supposed to go into these little pockets on the jacket which also have velcro. The idea is to insert them and push it all together. First of all, when you are out in the dark and rain, it is really difficult to get the tabs perfectly into the pockets. Moreover, even when they are perfectly inserted, the velcro gives away easily. I received this as a gift in February and I am going to try to return it. If they don't take it back I will just deal with it but Marmot and REI will have lost some standing in my mind.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Rain Jacket - Men's:
I'm a big guy, 6'3" 238lbs., so I bought the XXL and it's a perfect fit with or without fleece underneath. I like that the body and sleeve length are slightly long for better coverage. I can lift and rotate my arms without the sleeves riding up. The pit vents work great when you feel a little too warm. The detachable hood is a plus but in the driving rain it is a must. Totally kept me dry in wind driven rain. Light and packable for wherever you're going. No problems with the zipper. Get one...their on sale.
