Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
I have three pairs of these and will soon buy a fourth (two black, one silver). They are great for trail running, but I also get a lot of use from them while backpacking or traveling as they are light, packable, and remove the need to pack as much underwear. That being said there are times where I would rather not have a liner, but you win some you lose some, and this liner is relatively comfortable.
Pockets are substantial enough that I can wear these around town or to class and keep track of my keys, cell phone, and wallet if I don't have a pack to put them in instead.
I wouldn't mind if they made them in another version with an inseam that was even 1" shorter!

Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
Purchased the grey pair (Sharkskin/neon). Love everything about them, the fit, feel, and look. The stitching that holds the underwear lining to the shorts, though, began to come undone within a couple of weeks. I've restitched them by hand and I'm sure the shorts will be fine from now on but I would suggest that the stitching be looked at by the manufacturer.

I got these to do a little trail running in and so far I love them! At the end of my usual trail there are pools and they are always so tempting to jump in. As soon as I get out the shorts are pretty much dry within 5 minutes and I am on the go again. I would buy these over and over. I just wish they would come in other colors!

Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
I usually find REI clothing to be made from top quality fabrics, but with uninspired cuts and designs, and sometimes with shoddy sewing and insufficient quality accessories such as zippers. However, these shorts are top quality. Excellent durability for a 4 way stretch fabric, quick drying, and comfortable. I completed a 500 mile backpacking trip followed by a 500 mile bicycle tour with one pair of these and they were worn every day. I was in rain, light snow (long underwear under them), as well as in high temps and humidity. Since then I have worn them almost daily for exercise and casual use for several months. Other than a few small pulls in the the fabric from briars, they are in great shape. Dirt and stains wash out easily. I also own the "nearly the same" product offered by Patagonia, and these are proving to be much more durable, comfortable, and affordable (and I'm a huge Patagonia fan so this product really surprised me). Well done REI.

Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
I run around 20 miles a week. I've experimented with a number of different running shorts. I really like the fit of these REI shorts. They're not too baggy like a lot of my other shorts. I like that they have both a key back pocket and decently deep front pockets so you have the option of using either. They're also not too expensive.

Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
I've had a pair of Craft running shorts for about ten years, and have been loathe to pick up another pair of light polyester shorts because they invariably ride up and chafe something fierce. I picked up a pair of the 6" Fleet shorts and have been delighted with them so far. They're comfortable, they look as good as a pair of running shorts can, they're not shamefully short, and I have had zero problems with chafing, which says it all for me.
The zippered key pocket on the back along the waistline is a superb feature. For years and years and years I've been tying my house key into my shoelaces, but now I don't have to wrastle with 'em anymore. The pocket keeps the key safe, secure and easily accessible.
I guess it's against the grain, but I prefer that my running shorts have as few pockets as possible. I'm thankful for the well-designed and secure pocket along the waistband, as it's excellent for holding my house key, but otherwise pockets are usually an unsightly addition. That said, the side pockets on these shorts have a small profile and are not too obtrusive.
Super comfortable, lightweight, and I actually look forward to wearing them, which is both absurd and true.
I haven't had these shorts for very long, so I'm unable to comment on the durability of the liner.

Love these bad boys. Use them for running. Have a pair of Nike shorts that are always my second choice. My first and easier choice are the REI shorts. Keep the style. Going to buy the black pair soon.

Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
Every year I buy two pairs of these REI running shorts and one other running shorts just to try them. And each year I find the REI shorts have the best fit. I have full range of motion and never get raw from these shorts. They are short enough to give you motion and look good, but not so short you flash your bits when you run or sit.
I run 15-20 miles per week, every week, and these shorts are perfect - almost.
The only drawbacks are the pockets, the durability, and the stripe.
1. Pockets - REI running shorts used to have a zipper mesh pocket which could hold anything small securely as you ran - great for license, dog bag, etc. In the last 2-3 years, they replaced the zipper pocket with open pickets, which can loose items in a fast run - like my ATM card or dog poop bag - which can be a great annoyance. Also, the pockets are parachutes if you swim in the shorts. This year's version is an improvement over last year's shorts, but I would like zip pockets again.
2. Durability - Like I said above, I run 3-4 times a week, and I find that I have to buy 2 new pair of shorts every year. I delicate wash and line dry the shorts too. Still, last year's shorts are only good for lounging - the liner elastic is gone by then.
3. Stripe - the shorts used to have a brilliant reflective stripe down the side, but now have just a dab of reflection. For early morning/evening running this is a sad reduction in visibility.
Still, like i said before, the fit is perfect, so each year I buy 2 pair. For now. I only hope the zip pockets come back and the liner elastic is upgraded. A stripe would be nice to have.

Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
I use these for running every other day. I liked the first pair I bought and after looking at the rest of the running brands, I came back to these as the best for price for features and bought two more pairs. There is a great key pocket in the back so I can drive to running club and run without jingling. The side pockets are deep enough to keep the iPhone secure and not bouncing around or out. Finally, the interior liner is good at doing what its supposed to do without choking me.

Comments about REI Fleet Running Shorts - Men's 6'' Inseam:
The last pair of REI running short that I bought have been my pair of choice and lasted at least 3 years. Unfortunately, with this new "fleet" line REI has really skimped on the drawstring. It's approximately 60% smaller than the drawstring on my older pair of REI shorts. In my experience, the drawstring is the weakest part of a pair of shorts. It makes no sense to reduce material in this area.
