The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Lowa Camino GTX FreeFlex Hiking Boots - Men's:
Bought these for my boyfriend to work in rough terrain. He says they are the most comfortable thing he ever has had on his feet, shoes or otherwise! Bar none!!

Comments about Lowa Camino GTX FreeFlex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I had to return these boots, but not because of a fault of them. I literally tried on every backpacking boot REI sells, and had had to return these because they are too narrow for my weirdly-shaped feet. (I went with the Asolo PowerMatic 200 GV).
In the few hours that I spent wondering around the house, I appreciated that...
* The construction is solid
* The modern lacing method (kind of hidden from the photograph) lends itself to any manner of lacing, whilst ensuring the tongue remains in the middle
* They look fantastic, even for backpacking boots!
Anyone who expects boots like these to fit perfectly without wearing them in is kidding themselves but if these had fitted my odd feet correctly, I know we would have formed a long-lasting friendship.
Service and delivery comments:
I purchased these after trying on pretty much every boot REI sells, wore them around the house, took them back, was given a different lacing type, wore them around the house and then eventually went for a different boot. At all times, REI's staff (Michael and then Peter at REI Seattle) were exemplary, patient and then a credit to the company.

Comments about Lowa Camino GTX FreeFlex Hiking Boots - Men's:
Impressive boot - stability and traction can't be beat. The Lowa Camino locks to the sole of my foot. There is a comfortable, but gripping, heel cup, and a depression for the ball of my foot that locks me in position. Uphill or down, this boot works both ways.
I sense a fairly broad and stable front sole, with a narrow, more rounded heel. Wasn't sure I would like this, since it feels like the reverse of normal, but it does work great. Traction on rough granite is impressive.
No problems day-hiking in the Sierras. Looking forward to using them in extended trips this fall.
Camino is definitely waterproof, so use a good boot dryer.

Comments about Lowa Camino GTX FreeFlex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I cannot speak much to the durability of the boots, as I have only had them about a month. I have put quite a few miles on them and they really seem to do well on long hikes. With a decent amount of weight on my back, I've walked all day and my feet still felt good. I am a big fan of the lacing system. The traction and stiffness are probably my biggest selling points.
One word of caution that I would give is that if you need a medium-volume insole (SuperFeet Orange, etc.) this boot may not work. The heel cup is very pronounced, and I found that an insole that raises the heel, even a little bit, tended to give me hot spots. The only luck I have had is to stick with the Lowa stock insoles, which don't offer much padding against the rock hard sole of the boot. Go try a pair on and see what you think.

These are excellent boots. Unfortunately I had to return due to the narrow forefoot area. The construction is top notch and the modern lace design really works. There is no pinching from the laces while walking downhill. The boot holds your foot very well. My feet are a little wider than average and the boot is a little narrower than some of lowas other boots. Really wish they would have worked for me.

these boots feel best when i laced them for uphill/downhill. took only a day or two to break in and are rigid enough for long hikes, but roll with the foot enough for daily use

Comments about Lowa Camino GTX FreeFlex Hiking Boots - Men's:
These boots are the greatest. I've honestly bought nearly 7 pairs of boots and had almost $1500 in product at my home so that I can get the perfect pair of boots.
All the Italian boots were too narrow and my toes were stacked on each other. Which is interesting because the boots felt great in the store and at home. I guess I just don't "feel it" when my toes are stacked but after hiking for a few miles, I get hot spots.
The Lowa boot fits awesome. My 2nd toe is longer than my big toe so the shape of the boot is important to me otherwise it gets beat up on downhill. This didn't happen with the Lowa. Right out of the box it fit great.
To say there is no break-in time would be incorrect. If you compare to some stiff Italian leather boot, the break-in time is about half, but you can't just grab these boots out of the box and hike 50 miles in them with a pack.
Regarding the sole, I too found my sole was damaged after 50 miles in Whitney. It's a little disconcerting. BUT! I can always get REI to replace the sole if it wears prematurely. The sole getting chewed up is not the end of the world if the traction is good, and on these boots the traction isn't just good, it's great. I was hiking on ice, snow, granite and everything else you can imagine.
I'd rather take the softer sole over a hard and slippery sole. Plus the softer sole allows for reduced break in time and greater flex, which is what this boot is all about.
The boot flexes and moves with my foot wonderfully.
Anyway, I love these things. They are the greatest boots I've ever owned, they look great and fit great. And REI helped me to get the perfect size because I had to buy 2 in order to figure out which size was perfect for me. Thanks REI!

Comments about Lowa Camino GTX FreeFlex Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have been a Lowa fan for years and was excited when I saw these boots on the shelf at REI. So I bought them for an upcoming trip and wore them out for a "break in hike" that weekend. When I got home I noticed two things: 1. how nicely they wore right out of the box and 2. how much wear the sole showed after just 10 miles. A few weeks later I wore them on an 8 day hike and the soles all but fell apart. Big chucks of the lugs came off and pieces of rubber were hanging off of the sides of the sole after just a few days. Now keep in mind this was just trail walking and not cross country or scrambling so you can make your own call on durability. In closing, the boots, or what is left of them anyway, are going back to the store. Lowa missed the target here with too soft of a sole for the intended use.

Comments about Lowa Camino GTX FreeFlex Hiking Boots - Men's:
After use it on a wooded trail of 50 km ... I must say that the comfort is almost instant and no required to break... For cons, the sole is too soft for the rocky trails or hard surfaces. The boot is lightweight and comfortable with a whole load of less than 25 pounds. Keep your feet dry. For the price this pair of boots should offer much more. Fortunately, the yaw system is very effective.
