Designed for maximum comfort, the Marin Redwood bike offers a cushy ride that includes a suspension fork and seatpost and plenty of gears to spin easily through parks, paths and campgrounds.

  • Front suspension fork delivers 63mm of travel and, along with the suspension seatpost, softens the bumps along the way
  • Shaped aluminum frame features anti-flex seatstays and chainstays to help maximize efficiency
  • Upright ride reduces pressure in your hands, wrists and shoulders and can offer a greater field of view
  • Shimano trigger shifters and derailleurs provide intuitive, responsive shifting
  • Triple chainring and rear 8-speed cassette combine to provide 24 speeds that will take you up and down any terrain that comes along
  • Wide 26 in. tires provide a naturally stable ride at slow speeds and are appropriate for paved surfaces and light off-road riding
  • Marin Comfort saddle provides cushion and support for long rides; angle-adjustable stem lets you fine-tune your fit for maximum comfort
  • No special shoes required—platform pedals accommodate a variety of casual shoes
  • Specs on the Marin Redwood bike are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Marin Redwood Bike - 2011:

This bike is a huge upgrade over my 5 year old Schwinn. It has the most ergonomical seating/handle bar configuration and I am really impressed by its lightweight yet very durable frame. I also really enjoy having the speed shifter triggers. I use the bike for recreational/exercise cyclying of about 30-50 miles per week and it is holding up very well even with our tough midwestern road conditions.

Comments about Marin Redwood Bike - 2011:

I just bought two of these Bikes from the REI in Santa Monica for myself and my wife. We planed a trip the very next morning to go up north to ride. The minute we got home we took the bikes out for a run. Within the first 15 minutes, mine threw the chain twice and the gearing just didn't seam right. When I would switch gears it would grind a lot and make some crazy sounds. [...] I think I just got a bad bike.
