6061 aluminum frame provides a stiff, responsive ride; hydroformed top and down tubes increase strength without compromising handling
SR Suntour XCM-HLO suspension fork features 100mm of travel to smooth out the trail; lockout feature lets you turn off the suspension when it's not needed
Truvativ E400 3.0 44/32/22 crankset is paired with a Shimano 9-speed 11-34 cassette to supply gears aplenty for spinning up mountains and down flowing trails

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. I love this bike. It rides very smooth and it climbs like a beast! The components are solid. Buy it and you won't regret it. You riding buds will see nothing but your back because they will be struggling to keep up with you.

Great all around bike. I test rode some bikes at REI Short Pump Va and this was by far the best one I tried. The shifting is spot on, the breaks can stop on a dime and it handles like a dream. The forks are easily adjustable on the fly which is a nice feature. So far I've taken it out on some fire roads and some moderate level single tack and the bike handled everything like a champ. For the money you really couldn't buy a better bike
