Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I got this bike for weekly recreational riding. I liked the bike so much, that I started commuting to work daily (16 miles one way), and have been doing it for two months now. This is very comfortable bike, the frame geometry and the saddle it comes with make it a very pleasant ride. The components are of good quality and did not give me any problems. After initial tuning the bike runs smooth. I did have to correct a couple of wobbles after putting few hundred miles on this bike, but that is to be expected. I also had one flat in all this time, and had the tires replaced to Gatorskins afterwards.
In response to the first review, I did not find shifting clunky on any level. You can fine tune the components to make it smooth.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I tried lots of similar comfort oriented aluminum 105-equipped road bikes and this bike handled favorably with many more expensive name brand options.
Between a 20% off coupon, a massive dividend, and a Christmas gift card, I couldn't have purchased a box store cruiser for the out of pocket price that I paid for this bike.
Given the super laid back and comfortable geometry, the bike is surprisingly fast and responsive. I have no desire to race and I wasn't interested in buying a bike that would maximize my overall comfort and performance on my infrequent century efforts.
I like to bang out aggressive 35-50 mile rides on the weekend and this bike meets my needs perfectly. I don't notice an appreciable difference in stiffness between this bike and my old steel road bike and road vibration has not been an issue. I'm really happy that I didn't buy more bike than what I needed.
I've gotten 2 flats in about 10 rides (not sure if this is just bad luck). Also, I wish REI would offer a compact version (although I agree that the shifting is pretty reliable).

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I love this bike! As a daily bicycle commuter (80-100 miles per week) I was looking for a bike to use on rainy, wet days. I have been riding various mountain bike hybrids on wet days but always miss the performance and feel of a road bike. I really like my Novarra Trionfo with Dura Ace components and I did not want to step down too much in component quality or performance.
The Strada has been fantastic. Right away I had fenders and a rear rack installed for panniers. The bike is really comfortable, quick and a great overall ride. The Shimano 105 components have worked perfectly. The black and white color scheme with red accent looks nice without being overly flashy. The Strada has become my main bike, rain or shine, and is always a joy to ride.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I compared this bike to several other makes before purchasing it and concluded that it had the best components for the price.
I've only put 140 miles on it so far, but I am very happy with it. I adjusted to the seat surprisingly quickly given how long it had been since I had ridden my old bike. The paddle shift Shimano 105 gears are great -- quick to shift and very precise. The bike seems to want to go fast.
Now I need to buy some clothing and a new helmet to match the attractive red, white, and black paint job.

I use the bike often, for commuting and exercise training. It is a great first road bike. Sometimes the shifting is a bit clunky, but it is fast and surprisingly comfortable.

Strada overall is a great bike, I use it for commuting and recreation. it's fast and light and shifting is very smooth and not too noisy. The seat is not very comfortable so you might want to upgrade it, but other than that I have no complaints. [...]

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I got this bike for weekly recreational rides, but I liked it so much that I use it to commute 30+ miles to work daily (round trip). It is very comfortable out of the store - did not have to change saddle. The only thing I did change was the tires; I put puncture resistant gatorskins on it.
After 3 months of daily riding (about 200 miles per week) I have nothing to complain about.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I've always wanted to own a road bike, but I couldn't afford it years ago and were a little afraid of sharing the road with motor vehicles recently. I am a rookie for road biking, I bought this bike to commute. I looked for about two months before I decided to pull the trigger on the Strada. Originally I wanted to buy a cyclocross bike for my commute, but the bike I was looking didn't have the gears low enough to climb the hill on my commute route. Compared to other road bike in the price range, the Novara Strada has the best components, period. And I am more comfortable to deal with the staff in REI, who couldn't be nicer, compared to LBS.
I was a little hesitate about the durability of the bike because some part of my commute involves wood plank bridge and paved trail but very rough. After 3 times (18 miles each time), I felt quite comfortable riding it, except for the seat. Maybe it is time to get the biking shorts.
I am new to road biking so I really don't know how is my bike hold up against others. But it is very fun on the road, reasonably stable on the trail. The frame is quite rigid, but the ride is not punishing. Occasionally the front derailleur did not go to the gear directly.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I've ridden this bike on a few nationally organized rides in excess of 150 miles (Seattle to Portland, MS: Miami to Key Largo, and found her to be a very good traveling companion! She's pretty responsive and handles quite well. The geometry allows me to get up & go when I need to, as well stretch out and relax when I can. I've done few triathlons and found her to be a little on the heavy side when I'm in a hurry. I rode it to work many, many days while living in FL, and with the price of gas ever ratcheting, I'll start riding to work here in Maine (once it stops snowing) All things considered, she's a keeper!

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2011:
I looked a lot before buying and finally did because of the price and the listed components. The bike was ok, but I ended up returning it after a couple rides. I just didn't find it worth the money. Gonna buy a better ride[...]
