      I own three different sets of these, and would buy three more...if I could justify it! I have been buying wicking long-johns for years...and usually wear them downhill skiing or to cut wood. However, this time, I wanted to get a few sets for sleeping - starting to experience night sweats (joy!). Anyway...these fit the bill perfectly.

      I can wear these around the house without fear of unexpected company. They are perfect for sleepwear - they don't shimmy up my arms or legs; and I don't feel confined in them.

      They don't feel as soft as other wicking clothing - and my dry fingers seem to catch the waffled fabric. However, they don't seem to snag; and I don't feel itchy or uncomfortable in them when wearing. I absolutely love wearing them!

      And...they are made in the USA!

        I received these free from REI to try and I LOVE them! I have just worn them the last few weeks because it just now got cold enough in TN. I work EMS and I never know what the day might hold. I wear these under my uniform and they keep me very comfortable but they are not bulky at all! I actually never even know I have them on except I am not freezing! I am a tall lady (almost 5'9") and have long legs, these fit very well....first pair I have ever had that fit well! Thank you REI!!! Once again you have proven your quality!

          These midweight bottoms fit me well -- I am 5'4", 120 lb, and the size S is perfect. Yes, they're a few inches above the ankle, but they work fine with crew length socks. (I also have a pair of the REI lightweight bottoms, but for those I need an XS. Sizing is a mystery to me.) Anyhow, these midweights are very comfortable; they work equally well for indoor and outdoor use. They've held up for several months and many washings. I have bought another pair to put away for when I wear these out.

          I bought these as a replacement for REI's previous midweight base layer, which I loved. Unlike the old version, these fall well above my ankle (I'm only 5'5), and don't stretch much for a comfort fit or stylish appearance.
          They're warm enough for cold weather camping, but long socks are a must to keep my ankles warm.
          REI, please go back to the last model!

          These are great for every day use. I wear them to work where I need to be comfortable inside and outside. They keep me comfortable around the house (we keep the heat low). They are not, however, warm enough to take with me on a winter hike. I'll probably keep these for every day use and get the heavyweights for serious winter activity.

          The fit is not skintight. The hang just a little too loose on me for perfect insulation, but a size down would be too small and stretch the fabric too tight. I do find the that stretch well at the knees unlike other reviewers experiences.

              I have a pair of these from a few years ago that I LOVE. I went to buy another pair and found them completely redesigned. The fabric is not as stretchy which made them constrictive under lots of layers. The new style is also a lot shorter. These only came down to mid-calf, and I am only 5'5". These definitely went back to store.

                Your model must be a short person. The inseam of the long underwear I received measured 29 inches. They leave quite a bit of ankle exposed. There also is no cuff as in older versions of REI longies. I am returning them and so cannot speak to the other qualities.

                  I got last years version of these on clearance. I was skeptical of how warm they would be because they seem so thin. I haven't taken them off yet. I was not expecting them to be as warm and comfortable as they are! They are the perfect thing to wear under my pants outside and cut the chill. They are a little long for my legs but I'm 5'3" and I've never found pants that fit in the leg for me. Usually I have to buy a Petite in a size 16 or higher. These are true to the stated size chart.

                  They are not the absolute nicest long john's on the market but I actually like them better than the Smart Wool ones that are double the price!
