These are good basic day hiking boots. The uppers are lightweight and breathable, but not weather resistant. The soles are not very stiff or supportive, but probably OK for day hiking with a light pack (if you're not too heavy). Construction quality should be good enough to last for a year of regular day hikes. The price is good for what you get.

Use these 4-5 days per week on watershed trails here in central NC which consist mainly of hard pack, roots and rocks. Wouldn't want to carry much of a load due to the lack of much support--upside to this is a very good feel for the trail. Also, wouldn't want to expose to much water, but for stepping through soggy drainage areas they are fine. Was looking for a good summer hiker and these fit the bill--lasted all summer and look no worse for the wear.
