i got one of these hats years ago and it's just starting to get a little old. my boyfriend got it for me on a whim cause it was super marked-down. i didn't realize until recently what a GREAT hat it is and have since bought two more. (i got two colors hoping that i would hate one of them but each is prettier than the next so i'm keeping both.) i've tried regular wool (too itchy), merino (nice but pricey, and hard to find size large), anything with fleece liner (usually too tight). i've got lots of hair and am also sensitive to any pressure around my head -- get altitude headaches easily, etc.

as i'm not wearing this hat for serious winter camping (have a windblock earflap hat for that), i like that it can be a bit looser around the ears. when i wear this hat i tend to wear it for hours on end, usually to sleep while camping, so it has to be comfy. as long as i remember to put the little toggle-adjuster thingie in front so i don't end up sleeping with it on the back of my head :) and considering it's not lined or earflap, it's really quite warm. and it's super cute, soft and compact i love the woven trim colors. not great for wearing around a cold house on a daily/nightly basis though, as it will cause hat-hair

Love it. I like my hats to be comfortable... just loose on the head, but at the same time I seek the warmth in the winter. This hat is really flexible thanks to the drawcord design. Most of the time it sits on my head like a hard hat, but when it's extra cold, or when the wind picks up, I just tighten it up. It also looks awesome (I have the green one!) My favorite winter hat.

Mine had some questionable stitching around the colorful band. The sort of stuff that happens to anyone who sews from time to time. I just cut the loose stitches off. The rest of the cap feels sturdy and good quality.

Getting one for girlfriend now.

I originally bought this hat about 12 years ago and am now about to purchase my third one. Not because it has worn out, but because I wear it so much I have now lost it again! My loss is someone else's gain I suppose. I get numerous comments on this hat everywhere I go and look forward to wearing it again.

My son saw this hat at our local REI store and liked it because it looked cool. I got it for him as a gift and not only does it look cool, it IS cool!

I love that it is adjustable ... if you want a hat to just sit on your head but not hug your head you can wear it that way but when you want it worn snugly just tighten the cord in the back.

My son has a huge head for a kid and this hat (the adult version) is great for him.

I am going to buy one for myself too ... I like that I can just wear it lightly and not mess up my hair like a wool cap would.

It looks like it might be very heavy in weight but turns out it is just 2.15oz so about the same as a wool cap.

I used to order these hats every year for my family, but this is the last year. Sizing is slightly too tight around the head (even with the cord extended) but a bit on the tall side. There were a lot of loose strings still inside the cap from sewing, and the colorful band smelled absolutely awful. I washed it to try and get rid of the smell, but then the band unraveled! I will be returning these, and shying away from this brand in general. Made in America quality shouldn't be this displeasing.
