The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's:
The 2010 Theta AR is a lot different from the 2009 model. Arc'teryx has completely redesigned the majority of their jackets. The 2010 Theta is now made in Canada instead of China, just like the new Beta AR and the Alpha LT jackets.
Some of the changes made from the previous Theta, include a new Vislon Zipper (Previously only used with the Alpha series) which is much lighter in weight and perfectly water resistant, as well as easier to zip. Arc'teryx invented watertight zippers including the now easier to use zipper garages.
Arc'teryx also moved the third pocket previously placed next to the napoleon pocket to a more convenient spot on the upper left arm. This design was used originally with the Alpha SV model before 2010 which is now being used for the majority of the jackets. This allows for nice weight distribution depending on how much you are carrying.
Another aspect Arc'teryx changed, was the amount of 480n Pro Shell fabric. Previously, the jacket was covered in it. To save unnecessary weight, they kept more of the 380n Pro Shell. The thicker material is now on the shoulders, lower back, and much of the arms as well as the hood/collar.
The Theta still does have the waist cord for that nice fit, and still the length is a thigh length. Perfect for extra stormy weather. If you are looking for a completely tough shell and don't mind the extra weight, check out the Alpha SV or the new Theta SV, which is the new Theta/Alpha hybrid.
All in all, this is the same jacket as previous years, only much has been improved in its features. The jackets are back in Canada, and working better than ever. If I could afford it, I would have every shell they have.

Comments about Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket (mens, black, small) because someone gave me the previous years model ('09) as a gift. I liked the jacket but lost it one unfortunate day.
The '09 had an additional breast pocket, instead the '10 has an almost useless pocket on the left sleeve. This new sleeve pocket is a pain to open and close, almost impossible to open with one hand unless you are wearing a pack (it needs something to anchor the fabric, otherwise the zipper just sticks). Am I doing something wrong?
Also, the main front zipper is no longer laminated; it does not seem to be as water resistant. All the other pockets are laminated, as was the main zipper on the '09 version.
If I were to find last years model available for sale, I would return this jacket.
That being said, arc'teryx makes some fine products and this is a good hard shell.

Comments about Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's:
It's a beautiful jacket, I'd just hoped for more when I decided to add it to my gear.
The oversize hood can be adjusted smaller with tabs and cords but never really fits great, despite all the trials I've done and help I've had from store staff. I question why the jacket needs a hood which will fit over a helmet -- like, I'd never climb in a jacket this long.
The waterproof zippers are a neat idea. However the front zip is one-way only, meaning I can't loosen it from the bottom on a long uphill and still keep my throat and neck warm and out of the wind. Major disappointment.
These zippers are quite stiff as well, meaning I usually wind up taking the jacket off in order to work the pit zips. Put it on, take it off, put it on, take it off -- gets old.
So if I head out for anything adventurous in the mountains, I grab a different jacket. This one always gets admiring comments at the coffee shop : )

Skiing in NM in December. Never got cold and had ample room for layering on colder days. Light weight, packs easily. Never got cold enough to put hood over helmet so helmet fit not confirmed.

Comments about Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's:
I use this as a wet weather shell, as well as my primary snowboarding top. When it's cold on the slopes, you can layer with a good fleece. When it's warm but you still need water protection, It works awesome as a single layer over a t-shirt. Under arm vents are a plus if it gets too warm. Hood adjusts for helmet or without. I love then you can adjust the hood to make it a perfect fit no matter your head gear situation. My 100% of the time go to shell.
Range of motion is unmatched by anything I've ever worn. It fits almost as good as your skin. Never too baggy, and never to restricting.
"You get what you pay for", is coined after this jacket. You spend the money and you get the performance. NEVER been wet in this thing!
Just try one on. You will love it!

We are at the coast quite often with blustery weather. The jacket is warm, windproof and can be warn on the beach or while out dining in the evening.

Comments about Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's:
This is a year round jacket for me. Use it simply as a rain coat in spring/summer, and use it as an outer shell with layers underneath in cold winter conditions. This jacket will keep you bone dry in a down pour and block the wind and wet winter weather from penetrating to your core layers when in severe winter weather. Buy with confidence.
