Comments about Nikon Trailblazer Waterproof 10 x 42 Binoculars:

So far, these binoculars have served me well for the two times that I've used them (a football game sitting 5 rows back from the last row and a week long camping/hiking/hunting trip).

The size worked for me - they're not a super compact bino but they're not too large either. I would have liked them to be a little less heavy as after a few miles with them around my neck, I started to consider maybe a different strap system. But, compared to the rest of the gear I had, these were the least of my concerns with regards to weight.

After setting the diopter, everything was clear and crisp and focusing was a snap, even with gloves on, with the large center wheel. They also drew in enough light to keep things bright when the sun started going down (enough for me to see by).

Didn't have any problems with these in the rain and they also never fogged up on me through various conditions (e.g. getting out of a tent before sunrise where the outside temps were below freezing and considerably cooler than inside the tent or driving to a trailhead and getting out of a heated truck to colder outside temps, etc).

There are only two things that I would change (and these are pretty minor).

First, would be the clicking noise when bringing the eyecups up or down. For wildlife viewing, hunting, etc. it's probably not that loud to spook an animal but all the same, I make enough noise as it is and would rather my gear make as little as possible. This was easily taken care of by setting them where I wanted them and then leaving them alone.

Second, was the lense covers. The bottom covers would easily fall off and didn't didn't stay hooked onto the neck strap either. I eventually just took all the covers off, left them in my pack, and at the end of the day put them back on to protect the lenses.

So, aside from those two minor points, these were a great buy for me. Are there better binoculars out there? Probably but, for the money I spent I'm happy with how they performed.

Comments about Nikon Trailblazer Waterproof 10 x 42 Binoculars:

I've used these a lot more than i thought i would because they are fairly light for the power of the lenses and they're great in close, making difficult bird identifications a lot easier. Also took them out whale watching and was happy for the water/fog-proof feature! And you won't need a tripod as you might with a 10 x 50. Tough construction, too. Optics are the usual - great from Nikon. Recommended!
