The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
I use this jacket on winter hikes and as a morning warm up during other seasons, and it's great. It's warm, comfortable (feels like a sweater), water-resistant and has worn well. It's also nice that it's a somewhat "green" product. And while not windproof, it has a bit of wind resistance. For wind stopping, I use my Patagonia R3, but for the money, I find the Muir Woods jacket hard to beat as a hiking companion or for casual wear.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
Like the other reviewers, the worst thing about this jacket is the complete lack of wind protection. Literally anything over 5 mph and you'll feel it everywhere.
However, under a windproof shell, this jacket keeps me plenty warm on my morning walks to the bus (St Paul, MN). 5 below and I was completely fine.
One plus - this jacket comes in tall sizes - I'm 6'4" and it's one of the few clothing items I own that is long enough in both the body and sleeves without being a parachute in the chest.
All in all, for the price, it's a great jacket, provided you have a shell for it!

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
Indeed, I do live in these Muir Products by REI. Regardless of whether they are long sleeve or vest, the quality and thermal value of these products make them daily useful inside (during lower-temps inside as well) and outside (backpacking/camping or even going to stores wherein even the air cond. can be turned too high.) Weight is comfortable and breatable as well. Also, great while layering under raingear or winter wear for skiing and other outdoor.
Service and delivery comments:
always prompt. Often arrives before projected date on email confirmation---sometimes have to wait; but, REI always good about sending emails once package is shipped.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
My Muir fleece from 2007 started to wear a little thin in the elbows so I returned it to REI for the latest iteration. Having loved the sport-fit of the older model, I am extremely disappointed by the new version (2010).
The fit is extremely large for the size and feels downright baggy. I normally wear a medium jacket, but probably should've gotten a small in this case.
The fleece material is also textured differently than a traditional fleece jacket and as a result, it offers almost no wind protection. I've also noticed that after only a few washes, the entire jacket looks more worn than it should for being only a month or two old.
Bottom line - I intend to return this jacket for something else. I normally love REI branded products, but this particular item falls short of the typical high quality and smart design.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
I love the look and feel of the jacket but do have some minor annoyances. Firstly, this fleece, unlike some REI and Northface ones I own, provides nearly zero protection during even moderate breezes. If it's mid-40F and 10mph wind, you will want to wear a long-sleeve base layer. I haven't tried wearing this under a shell yet but I will say that I can imagine being very agile in such a configuration thanks to its light weight, small size and slim fit.
If Patagonia had put a cinch on the bottom of the jacket, it would be a certain 5/5. Also, the sleeves tend to "roll over" the elastic at the end and this is only a mild annoyance. Pound for pound and bang for buck, however, I think the REI Muir fleece is the best buy perhaps EVER.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is pretty awesome. I'm 6'1 180lbs and the medium fits me like a glove. I wear this jacket everywhere, it's my go-to jacket. It keeps me warm, and is reasonably breathable. However, I have to say that this jacket just doesn't stop the wind, and I don't want to deal with a fleece that needs a shell. To it's credit, it's not advertised as windproof, but I think it should be a little more resistant.
In short, if you're looking for a great fleece layer or something to keep you warm under a shell, this is your jacket. I like it a lot, but I'll be exchanging mine for an REI Windbrake.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
Mine is black. It's my go-to jacket for around town during the mild California "cold" season and still looks and feels good after four years. I haven't roughed it up too much in the wild, nor washed it alot, so that might have helped it persevere so well. A proper-fitting jacket is often hard for me to find, but this works very well on my 6'2" and slender frame. Overall, it's comfortable, stylish enough, warm enough, versatile and the price is right.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
First, others' comments about how terrible this jacket is because it's not windproof show they did not know what they're buying. This is a perfect fleece jacket; I didn't need a windproof fleece, otherwise I would have purchased Polartec Windbloc fleece. Enough on that. This fleece feels substantial and has a nice, thicker nap on the indside. The sleeves are a tad more constricting than other fleece jackets I have, but they are all cut to resemble jackets for the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man. This jacket fits me quite well (5'11 @ 170lbs). I like that the collar is not very tall--it doesn't rub annoyingly on my chin. The sleeves aren't too long, but they're certainly not too short--I can extend my arms and maintain coverage. I picked this up on clearance for [$] and am very pleased. REI, once again, is fantastic.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Jacket - Men's:
Having recently purchased this jacket, I am hoping that REI finds a new designer. I am terribly disappointed.
As for the positive aspects, it is a warm jacket – a jacket that one might enjoy wearing every cool day.
As a practical matter, however, the jacket is difficult to wear. A caveat – if you are over 6'2", with long slender arms and a slight build, this jacket will be perfect for you. Otherwise, if you fit within the other 90% of the population, this jacket will be problematic. The sleeves are so tight that getting the jacket on is a challenge unless you are wearing no shirt underneath. As others noted, the sleeves are so long that one should note the above height restriction.
Additionally, the body size is inconsistent with sizes offered by other clothing companies. Mine ran at least one size too small.
As for the fabric, it is warm and has a pleasing appearance. Unfortunately, the combination of fabric and appearance creates a lint collector to a degree that I have found in no other fleece product.
