Skied with this jacket in single digit temps and in a cold rain. Very windproof and remarkably water resistant, stayed dry and comfortable throughout. Jacket is designed for skiing / snowboarding and includes a powder skirt and multiple pockets to include one for an electronic ski pass in the sleeve. It's heavy for a softshell, so it does a good job of keeping you warm, although you will need to have a few layers underneath in cold weather. Trade-off is weight, do not recommend for back packing as it's too heavy (Marmot's ROM jacket is a better choice). Found the hood is tight around a ski helmet and pit zips could use a longer pull cord, but otherwise it's a great jacket. Marmot products are designed for active people; as such, if in doubt about the size, order one size up.

I have owned several Marmot jackets and thought this one would be an ideal replacement for my aging Sharp Point jacket. It had almost everything, but in the end, a few things made me return it. This is a very well made jacket and has several great features. However, two things were not ideal: 1 - the chest seemed to be a bit too large, when compared to their older jackets. And 2- the velcro wrist closures were in a terrible spot, such that they fold over underneath the wrist (as opposed to on top, where it would not be in the way). REI does wrist closures right. Marmot did not. If you look at the photo, the wrist closures look right, but when you watch the video, you will see what I mean. This may not be a big deal to you, but I could feel this annoying fold every time I wore the jacket, and after a week, it went back. I hope this helps you with your jacket search.

I purchased this vertical jacket for an all around jacket and so I can take snowboarding with, it is warm, very warm, it wont breath but that's what the pit vents are for.It does repel water and snow but not good for rain storms! I cant even count how many compliments I have received on this one jacket, the stitching is perfect and colors are the perfect combination
It washes perfect and looks brand new every time, I love this jacket

Just bought this jacket and was out on the mountain skiing it was 10 degrees, very cold but I was still relatively warm. I only had a fleece vest on. I was surprised by its wind stopping capabilities, very comparable to my northface apex jacket.This is a really good value

I bought this last minute for a ski trip. Temp range was in the low teens in the mornings to low 30's in the afternoons. I work a heavyweight polartec baselayer with a lightweight full zip fleece mid-layer and this jacket and was almost too warm in the morning making the arm-pit vents very usefull. Afternoons with the base layer and this jacket were perfect. Water and wind resistance is excellent. Fit wise, I'm 5'10", about 165lbs and medium build. Even with all the layers, I still had plenty of room and good mobility. Overall I'm VERY satisfied with the performance, particularly since I did not have a lot of time to research or comparison shop.

Great jacket. I returned a North Face APEX Bionic to get this Marmot. Better fit than the Bionic and way more features for close to the same weight. The Vertical was designed for more snow sports with the removable snow skirt but I use this jacket for same mulitsport stuff and casual wear that I did with theBionic. The pit zips are great as well as the added pockets. Very durable almost perfect all weather jacket. Though it's just a tad to heavy to wear in the spring and Summer when it gets cool in the am and pm here on the coast. Probably going to also purchase the Patagonia Simple Guide for the summer.

Great for everyday wear in cold and/or wet conditions. Blocks the wind very well. Kept me warm the other morning for two hours in temps hovering at 19 degrees. One of my pet peeves are zippers that are not smooth or easy to do and undo. All of the zippers on this jacket are very smooth to zip and unzip. Great product and worth the $$$.

First time out with this jacket was 12 degrees and I only had a vest on under the jacket. This Jacket did a good job stopping wind. Very simular to my Northface apex jacket. Very good value. I recommend it.
