This may be premature, as I've only had this for a week, but this bottle is the knees of the bee. Right now I'm using it primarily as a coffee travel mug and it fits the bill perfectly. I've gone through several travel mugs over the last few years and each one has had flaws. This, however, can do no wrong.
For coffee drinkers, I recommend getting the KK Café Cap. It seals in the heat, but what I like most about the cap is that it breaks down into two separate parts, making it easy to clean and keeping the funk from building up in between the swiveling parts. I don't see it on the REI site, but it should be stocked!
Partly due to its bombproofness and partly due to its cool-to-the-touch exterior, this bottle will make it into my pack for short trips on hikes and river runs. This 16 oz. version is on the small side for an extended trip, but that doesn't detract from its great qualities.

I use this bottle every day. Klean Kanteens retain no taste of metal (they might smell a little bit like metal, but take a sip and then inhale). I primarily used this bottle while working on a farm. I kept it on a belt sitting on my back and I can't tell you how refreshing it was to have cold water with me at all times!
If you put 5 ice cubes in this thing it will keep your drink cold throughout the entire day! If I put 7 then I will have ice all day (but less drink).
Using this with the Cafe lid is fantastic as well. However it will spill and I don't feel as secure holding it since it doesn't have a loop or a really textured grip.
It is quite durable but will dent a little when you drop it on concrete. This is no problem for me and after dropping it many times it hasn't damaged the bottle at all.
I am 100% satisfied with this purchase and would definitely buy another if it got stolen!

I was in the market for a long time for the perfect coffee mug and this is as good as it gets. Great capacity, it fits in a car cup holder and it keep the fluids pretty warm. I can make coffee in the morning and still have it pretty hot for lunch.
It has a lid so you can toss it in your bag and not worry about leaks. You can also purchase a cafe lid for the mug so you can sip on your drive to work or sitting outside enjoying your drink. It is not needed, but a nice addition. I would have preferred if the mug came with the lid, or better yet, if you could have two lids in one- where you screw off the sealed lid and have a sippable lid underneath. And the cafe lid snaps in two easily for proper cleaning. Great job!

Our family owns about 6 different Klean Kanteen bottles, and they're great. The new insulated Klean Kanteens are especially fantastic. Had an iced drink in mine the other day, drank everything but the ice, and forgot it over night. Next day, the ice hadn't even melted. Equally good with hot drinks. And I love that I finally have a coffee mug that'll fit on my bike, so I can combine my two great (non-human) loves...
Keep in mind the café lid (extra) is not leak proof – they never claimed it was. I wish they'd improve that, and add a loop to the café lid so I can clip it to things, to keep it handy and off the ground/floor/etc

The search is over for the holy grail of thermoses. For years I tired numerous other thermoses, which failed to meet the following crucial criteria:
- Made of metal, inside, outside, and inside of lid (i.e. no plastic in contact with contents)
- Did not leak under any circumstance
- Was simple in design, thus reducing the likelihood that it will leak as it ages
- Easy to wash
Believe it or not, that was a pretty tall order. It seems that most other thermos makers out there have over-engineered their bottles in an attempt to appeal to people who like "features". The result is usually a thermos bottle that has flip-open drink tubes (unnecessarily complicated, impossible to wash thoroughly, and prone to leaking), or were made of plastic on the inside. The Klean Kanteen insulated series is design perfection. Nothing but a bare-bones thermos that is made of stainless steel inside and out (even the underside of the lid is stainless) that does its job. This really helps with keeping your beverages tasting like they should, and also helps prevent your beverages from leaching into the thermos itself. Seriously, why has it taken so long for someone to produce such a simple yet obviously necessary design feature?! Also, the Klean Kanteen insulated thermoses have very simple lids with no unnecessary vents, flaps, openings, etc. It simply screws down tightly and seals up for good. This is one of the few thermoses out there that you can throw inside your backpack, upside-down for hours, and not have to worry about one drop of liquid getting out. It is REALLY sealed shut. Gone are the worries about your coffee leaking out into your bag or onto car upholstery.
While it does not have the extreme insulating capabilities of the glass & foam lined thermoses, I have found that it does its job quite well. It will easily keep hot beverages hot for 2-3 hours (maybe longer), which is plenty of time in most instances. What it loses in seriously long-term insulating capability compared to the glass thermoses, it makes up in weight savings. Although it is made of stainless steel, it's actually not very heavy, and I think it is the perfect compromise between insulating capability and low weight. I use mine to take coffee to work in the morning, and also fill it with juice when hiking, etc. It works excellently in both settings, and I really can't recommend this product enough. Klean Kanteen really nailed it when they designed their insulated thermoses. Buy one!

I actually can't say if this bottle really keeps hot beverages hot for as long as it claims because my coffee doesn't usually last me that long. But after riding to work in the rain today, I got to enjoy nice, hot coffee in what is my new favorite bottle.

This bottle is wonderful! I've owned my insulated Klean Kanteen for several months now. Before summer, I used it for my outdoors-job since I can safely throw it into my pack and never worry about coffee leaks. Try that with any other insulated mug and you'll be sorry when half your coffee is on your pack and the ground! : )
Most recently I used it for three weeks to keep iced coffee cold. It actually kept the coffee cold for at least 48 hours, and probably would keep it cold even longer if I tried it! (I know, multiple-day-old coffee, but seriously, it's actually relatively good when kept sufficiently cold!) I used it while camping for work during this time so I didn't have to worry about waking up earlier than our already-early start time to make coffee in the cold, mosquito-y camp. Instead, I prepared coffee ahead of time, added the still-warm coffee to the bottle, tossed in several ice cubes, and it managed to stay cold for a long time, even on occasion when I kept it in a hot vehicle by accident. I did keep it in a cooler for the afternoon and night between drinking it each morning, but I think it would have been relatively cold still without the cooler--I still had ice cubes in it 24 hours later once when I let the coffee cool completely before bottling it.
I can think of many other uses for this bottle, such as for slower tea and coffee drinkers who sip on a drink for hours and want to throw the drink in a purse or backpack in order to free up their hands. I often enjoy my smoothies and coffee-drinks for quite awhile and will use this to keep them cold and spill-free in my purse while shopping, heading to work, etc. You can buy the sip-cap for the bottle and switch it out when you're ready to drink, too. This is a great product and I highly recommend it. Good job, Klean Kanteen!
