Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoes - Men's:
Took these on a 6 night trip in the Grand Canyon. Pack weight before water 30-35 lbs, my weight 194. This was a very rough rocky trip (arent they all) and they held up pretty well with a small separation between sole and upper that I'll fix and live with.
They did well for the first part of the trip but toward the end their flexibility in the forefoot and underfoot lead to sore feet. They do fit like a glove, and very sticky. Best used for approach hiking or shorter backpacking trips with light loads.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoes - Men's:
This all around mountain shoe works for approaches, walk off's without your painful climbing shoes, trail running, scrambling, every day life, etc etc. This is the best all purpose shoe I have ever owned.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoes - Men's:
im an avid outdoor enthusiast and rock climbing junky, ive been through many pairs of approach shoes and the FiveTen Camp four blow them all out of the water. They are my everyday commuter shoe, and my do-all outdoor shoe. they are much more than just and approach shoe.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoes - Men's:
I wore these shoes on a through hike of the long trail in sept '09. It was a month in the green mountains of vermont with a 40+ lb pack along rocky ridgelines, mud filled trails, roots, rocks and the occassional puncheon. These shoes help up surprisingly well. My foot felt well supported. I never had any foot problems on the hike. The traction gave me enough confidence to hop along the ridgeline rocks - but what would you expect from five-ten but good rubber? The cost of the traction is longevity. After about 400 miles, my first pair is ready to retire with only a few nubs left on the soles and a lovely aroma. These shoes are definitely not waterproof, but do a reasonable job of keeping out splashes. If you do wade through a river, the soles take a while to dry out and you feel squishy. And the hours of walking in squishies is the reason I withhold the fifth star.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoes - Men's:
This shoe is amazing. I am very hesitant to ever write a review like this in fear I might mislead someone into something they don't like. I bought this shoe primarily as an approach shoe and not only used it as such, but actually have done some 5th class rock climbs with these shoes in Yosemite, J-Tree, Tahquitz, Tuolomne, etc.
These were my shoes of choice during a 70mi solo backpacking trip I did across the Sierras because I anticipated some 3rd/4th class climbing. After 70miles my feet were in top shape(odd because my feet are super prone to blisters), the shoes looked no different and I have an all new respect for them.
If you do a lot of rockclimbing, scrambling and/or hiking/backpacking, you cannot go wrong with these. I will immediately replace them once needed but I don't anticipate that happening for quite a bit longer.
BUY these shoes!

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoes - Men's:
These shoes have amazing traction! I've had 5.10 hiking shoes since about 2000 (5+ pairs). They wear out faster (about 2x) than vibram rubber, but are WAY stickier. Its a small price to pay for real climbing shoe traction. If you like to scramble on rocks there is no better shoe. If i lace them up tight i can climb to about 80-90% of my ability. Once i gave a demo to some friends and stood on a super steep rock and then turned around (360) and bounced on one foot to demonstrate the traction. Their "hiking" shoes wouldn't even grip that surface enough to stand on, and they all bought a pair the next day. I've done multiple 20+ mile hikes in them and they felt great!

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoes - Men's:
I never write reviews, but quite frankly, the Five Ten Camp Fours are the sweetest shoes I have ever owned! They are listed as approach shoes, but I do everything from mt biking and backpacking to going to classes in these shoes. I am on my second pair and know for a fact that my next are going to be five ten camp fours.
