Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
This is an instant CatEye classic. I had just purchased the CatEye CC-MC100W a week before the Commuter was released. I returned it at REI for the Commuter model and couldn't be happier.
First, I commute to work every day with about a 25 mile round trip. The CatEye Commuter is perfect for this kind of use. The extra large read out is priceless and the backlight being in 3 second mode or constant mode is even better. Commuters will often find themselves riding in the dark and for me it's early mornings all throughout the (winter) months here in Arizona.
When I commute, I pay close attention to elapsed trip time and with that can gauge my pace by familiar landmarks, lights, etc. Now having an ETA is even more fun. I'm aware of arriving to work on time but also my performance while doing it. I have not used the Carbon Offset features yet and will follow up later with that. This will be my first entry into that formula of any kind.
The FlexTight mounting bracket is a breeze for install, but the kicker by far is the ClickTec button interface - Wow! This is sooo much better than yesteryears models of having buttons on top. It's sleek and much easier to operate. One note about this: When you are first programing your computer, you may want to curse CatEye for making the buttons on the back so hard to get to and push. Why did they do this I wondered? Well, after you get your computer set up and mounted and you use the ClickTec interface you'll understand. Pushing the programming buttons on the back is a (little) short term frustration for the long term operational bliss with ClickTec!

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
This was my first wireless computer and I was excited it was "commuter" specific. While the ETA and current speed are easy enough to read the actual time and temperature in the darker blue area are almost impossible to read while riding.
While most things can be cycled through with the new Click-Tec interface the glaring thing that can't is the odometer readings. To see mileage for the day, week, month, year, and total you must remove the head unit and push the tiny menu button on the back and then push and hold the mode button to get to the mileage display. Then you can cycle through the different odometer readings using the mode button.
I've used it for a week to give it a chance to grow on me. It hasn't so it's going back for a plain Cateye wireless computer with less "features".

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
Cateye has some good intentions with this model, but it just is not here with the commuter! :/ The ETA function is cool especially while on self-contained tour in an area that you really are unfamiliar with. On my normal 28 mile round trip commute, its very useless in a sense because I have landmarks that I use for my split times and so forth. When I first started using this product I was trying to determine if the mileage and times were accurate or not! After 7 months of use, my experience with the COMMUTER is half the time its right and the other half its wrong. Sometimes it is within a .5 of a mile and other times its 2-3 miles off of the mark. Then comes the ride time: tells me I been on the bike for 4hrs when its only been 1 hr 35min. Or you get the bike going up to 36,39,45,55,62 mph- get real I do not have a motor on my bicycle- I am using my own force so those mph are unreal for ME!!! I also have had problems with the device getting stuck in the handlebar mount. Its like I am going to break the computer when I am pulling it out of the mount. The one thing Cateye could do without is the blue on the bottom, it sure does make it hard to read the time: when you have been on the bike for 6+ hours in the 90's. Me COMMUTER from day one has never stayed on one sitting while cycling. On days that I go ride on unfamiliar roads or out of state: I have to say this. It bugs me, I look down to see my distance and it has changed itself to maximum speed. All I can think to myself is who cares about that. Or it changes, to total trip time, average speed and it just rotates all on its own. It never stays on one sitting: gets old in a hurry. After all, it gets the job, but wouldn't be my first choice for a new computer.

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
The Cat-Eye Commuter is an awful design! It has potential but is not worth using due to poor design. It's very difficult to set-up. The screen is not visible when riding unless the computer is viewed from certain angles. The "ETA" feature only works in whole miles! When trying to access features the computer resets and erases information half the time. Can not read odometer unless you remove the computer from the base and toggle buttons on the back.
Don't buy this! If you do you'll return it within 25mi like I did!

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
I use this to commute 13 miles (one way) to work, its awesome. I love the ETA its a light at the end of the tunnel. Lets be honest, sometimes biking to work at 6am is not something we all like to do...
I agree with the last guy with the buttons, and them being small, but once your on the bike, it all works seemlessly.
Highly recommend this product!
Happy biking!

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
So to all the people saying it was hard to setup, it is a Cat Eye and they all are a mild pain the first time! I seem to also remember changing the time without resetting mine.
As good as this one is, I miss my CC-MC100W. It is easy to use, easy to see, and the light works awesome at night. The thermometer is an awesome feature too!
Two MAJOR complaints. This one does not auto-start well. I think if the bike has been stationary for an hour, it goes to a "hard" sleep that you manually have to wake it out of. So many times I forgot to start it.... My older Cat Eye MC100W never had an issue with this.
The deal killer though? No Odometer in the normal access menus! I couldn't give a hoot about all the junk that is in there really. I would be perfectly happy just seeing current speed, odometer, and temp. To access the odometer, you have to take it off, fiddle the back button and go through menus to access it.
Some sap stole mine, forgot to steal the sensor though... I will not be replacing it with another Commuter.
Oh and to those saying that it reads hotter on the road, well duh of course it does. The road absorbs and reflects the heat up and it is hotter. I found it to be PERFECTLY accurate.

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
This computer had the features I wanted but was extremely difficult to set and also hard to get to work. The fork mounted sensor has little range and it took me a long time to get it to pick up the wheel magnet. I recommend measuring the distance between the fork and spokes before buying this computer. If it's more than five centimeters, get another product.

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
I had this for five months before it died. I put under 1000 miles on it. Before that, I accidentally set the clock off by one hour. Turns out you can't change the time without resetting the entire unit. Also, the screen is hard to read if you're not looking straight at it - the characters disappear when you're at more than, say, more than 20 degrees away from perpendicular.

Comments about CatEye Commuter Bike Computer - Wireless:
Ok, this computer has some great features, but the normal features that you would think would be easy to get to aren't. First the instuctions are very basic and show you how to install, which is easy enough, but doesn't give anything other than a little bit of info on anything. Now I have no clue what Cateye was thinking when they designed the computer's buttons, but they should've made it easier to use the menu button when you have the computer on the bike. You can't get to the odometer, or the carbon offset info without using the menu button, which you can't get to without taking the computer off the mount and flipping it over. Now the ETA feature I will say is cool, but the Clock for the ETA is the only clock that displays large enough to view safely, and the ETA works on ether Auto or Manual, but you can't switch between the two without using the menu button. The ETA -Auto works great but the computer uses the last measured distance as the distance to calculate the ETA, so if you have more then one place to stop and the computer shuts off the ETA isn't acurate, and the ETA -Manual is just simple, you set it up with a fixed distance and that's the distance it thinks you're going everytime you start out. Everything else about the computer is the same sort of thing you'ld find on anything else with the exception of the Carbon Off-Set, but you can't get to it easily.

I really liked this Commuter. The only thing is that it has bad instructions, and is hard to set up.
