Comments about Serfas Stop Sign Amber Rear Bike Light - '09 Closeout:

Now that I am riding home in the dark, I was happy to find these amber lights to add to my commute bike. I already have a Planet Bike red light on the back, and a NiteRider headlight. I wanted amber lights shining to the sides.

When I received the lights, I was satisfied with their brightness but disappointed with the mechanical quality and mounting system. The rubber gasket to seal the case is so thin I would be amazed if they keep water out. My bigger worry was the mounting system. The plastic feels very flimsy given the weight of the light and I worried that it would either break or the light would pop out. I installed the lights upside down so gravity would help the lights stay put if the weak clip started to open up.

Sure enough, the first time I rode my bike with these lights, one light popped out, lost its cover and a battery upon hitting the ground, and snapped one of the 5 LEDs. I never even had a chance to use the light before it was broken.

I still want amber lights, so I will try to find a better way to secure these things, but I would not recommend relying on the provided mounting system.
