Comments about Novara Bar-Top Handlebar Bag:
I bought this bag thinking they redesigned it since it shows new model numbers on the website. Its the exact same bag as the model they just discontinued. The problem with the bag is that it opens with the zippers at the bottom. All your stuff falls out. All they have to do is reverse the zippers to open at the top. Once again..someone made this on CAD and never put it on a bicycle and rode around using it. Pass on the bag until they fix it..

Comments about Novara Bar-Top Handlebar Bag:
I bike, I am carFree.
Had to return the pack. During our wet spring the map compartment would mist up to the point I would have to hang dry the maps or anything else stored in the map compartment after a trip over 30 minutes. The first rain I rode in the entire pack allowed water in. Not water proof at all.

Comments about Novara Bar-Top Handlebar Bag:
I bought this bar bag with a new Hybrid Marin Muirwood 29. At 60+ years I mainly ride the towpaths and rails to trails in the Northeast and wanted a smaller bag. I can fit a wireless meter and one light with this bag and no interference. I sprayed it with a hose to test waterproofing and it did get soaked after a while, but that would be a lot of rain. I cut a piece of stiff plastic to fit the bottom and a slim strip to run around the outside to stiffen it up.

Comments about Novara Bar-Top Handlebar Bag:
The size is just right. I couldn't use a bag in front of the handlebars because of the brake and shifting cables. This rests nicely on top of the handlebars. I've even used an mp3 player with portable speakers tucked in the pockets for music on the go! The zipper is at the front, I'm assuming, to allow you to access something quickly - just open it a few inches to reach in, not all the way.
You could get a light or a bike computer on the handlebars with the room left over, but not both. The material is really nice - not cheap plastic. And I've only used it in light rain and it was fine. If I get caught in a downpour I'm going to try a clear shower cap - it looks like it would be a perfect fit!

Comments about Novara Bar-Top Handlebar Bag:
Note that the zipper placement of this bag is not backward as several reviewers have mentioned. The bag is supposed to be mounted so it rests atop the handlebars with the zipper closest to you. That way the zipper is on top, the map compartment is in view when you ride, the the bag lid opens upward like a cigar box. (See the photo.) It might not work for some types of handlebars, but it's actually a great little bag -- not too big, not too small, and very lightweight. The clear map compartment is a neat feature.

Comments about Novara Bar-Top Handlebar Bag:
I have been dithering on this product, wanted something for the handlebars that wasn't large like normal handle bar bags and would display a cue sheet. Very glad I finally got it. perfect size to stay on bike for both fast rides as well as longer day rides like centuries. Would definitely buy it again.
That said there are some major design flaws: First and foremost, you can't access the map/cue sheet riding. Opening it up has to be done in a stopped position because all your gear WILL fall out. Stop to adjust your cue and your group is gone. Second the mounting design basically takes away room and view for a bike computer, handlebar lighting, and doesn't easily come off for quick snack breaks at stores, leaving all your valuables stuck to your bike.
Even though there are some major design flaws I would buy it again for being the perfect size to carry extra stuff on a variety of rides that don't require a large handlebar touring bag.

Comments about Novara Bar-Top Handlebar Bag:
I wish I'd read the other two reviews before I bought this product. It's really a nice little bag, it mounts on my bars and around the quill of my new Novara Corsa (really love the bike!). It has a well designed map pouch and little net pockets inside and a key ring holder, but as the other reviewers accurately point out, the zipper should open across the top of the bag, not the bottom so your stuff won't fall out. If you can stop everytime you want to open it, you can deal with the inconvenience but no opening on the fly!
