Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Catalyst 3 Tent - Special Buy:
I picked this tent up from the REI outlet for [$] I checked out several tents at my local store but comparable tents are around $300. This is my first new tent is 15 yrs, I was impress how light the tent is (6 lbs fully loaded)and how easy it is to setup. My old tent is a GEO dome it weighed 10.5 lbs and required 2 people to setup. The tent was comfortable with plenty of space for 2 hikers and gear. We put our packs inside the fly but outside the tent. I don't think you could really fit 3 people unless your close friends, but that's true of all tents. I bought the footprint for the tent as well, what an improvement over the old ground clothes. I've not used the tent in rain or high winds but so far, I'm happy with my pick.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Catalyst 3 Tent - Special Buy:
So I got this tent for a "too good to be true" price and needless to say, I was a little apprehensive about what I was getting.
My partner and I generally pack heavy loads into an area and set up a base camp. For us, it's all about comfort and we picked a 3 man tent for that reason. That said, at 6+ pounds this tent is definitely not for ultra-lighters, but the room it affords along with the quality, ease in setting up, and water and wind proof attributes (30 mph sustained + 6 straight hours of rain), make the weight a small price to pay.
And speaking of price...you can pay a couple hundred of dollars more for a tent that weighs about the same, offers less room, and is of equal or lesser quality.
In a nutshell, I feel like I got the deal of the century!

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Catalyst 3 Tent - Special Buy:
Just got this tent for a weekend trip with the lady. It was easy to set up, and store the 2 of us and our gear easily. The tent is a little heavy, but sturdy, and it's easy to break up the pieces to distribute the weight. The big highlight for me this weekend, is that the tent held up to 40-50 mph wind gusts throughout the night. We didn't really sleep at all but the tent didn't budge and it did a great job deflecting the debris that kept falling on us. Overall a great tent.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Catalyst 3 Tent - Special Buy:
Bought this tent specifically for a motorcycle camping trip my friends and I had planned out. We rode nearly 700 miles in a weekend and spent the nights in our tents.
Friday night, we got back from work, immediately hopped on our bikes, and rode off. Spent about 3 hours on the road and finally got to our campsite at about 11pm...with rain. We caught light rain the whole night, but the tent set up in a few minutes and we were able to get out of it very quickly. The tent held up well in the rain and absolutely NOTHING got wet. The condensation on the fly in the morning was the only cause of moisture.
With all the gear we had for the weekend, I new I needed extra space to put it all. The vestibule was an option, but a friend and I were able to keep all of our gear by our feet and sleep very comfortably.
The second night did not include rain, but it did include waking up to 28 degree weather. Frost on the ground, visible breath. It was cold. The tent wasn't "cozy", at these temperatures, but with the 20 degree sleeping bag and enough clothing on, it was as comfortable as can be.
This tent has been PERFECT for the type of camping I do. It is not the lightest tent out there, but fits my SV650 amazingly. It never felt too heavy that it would slip out in a turn or over bumps. Any other avid motorcyclists looking for a tent...this is a good deal.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Catalyst 3 Tent - Special Buy:
Initial 5 night trip and this tent did not disappoint. Comfy 2 person tent, quick/easy set-up Car camping Sedona and Grand Canyon. Actually long enough for me, 6'2". Double doors and Double vestibules, created with fly, ingenious. No wind or rain this trip. Only minor annoyance was shock-corded tips on poles kept coming out and had to continually re-insert them. Will probably try some silicone to hold them in place.

Very easy to set up and is bomb-proof with the fly. Also, tent was easily taken down while fly was left up to keep the rain off during tear down. Two doors and two vestibules allow easy entry/exit and ample storage space. Nifty "attic" and lots of pockets for stashing. The amount of mesh is my favorite thing about this tent.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Catalyst 3 Tent - Special Buy:
I bought this tent for my wife and infant son to start enjoying camping with me. It has been several years since I spent a weekend camping, and I wanted to make sure that the family was comfortable enough to go out for another weekend. Although we've only used the tent 1 time, and it happened to be an extremely warm weekend, this tent exceeded my expectations. The tent is super easy to set up; only 2 separate poles to mess with. There is an abundance of mesh on the tent, making it a great 3 season tent and making it very light. I look forward to trying it out year round, but the winters here are relatively mild.
