Comments about GSI Collapsible Fairshare Mug:
I primarily use this as a mug for my adult beverages. It's very sizeable and the measuring notches inside are helpful in preventing me from enjoying too much too soon. The measurements start at 4 oz, but one can clearly see where 2 oz. would be by the design of the mug. I have another collapsible mug from a different company and don't like it nearly as much since it doesn't have a lid or handle like this one does.
My other use for this is as a small camp mixing bowl. It's nice having a handle while preparing things. As I move toward minimizing my camp kitchen gear I feel this is a valuable and versatile piece.

Comments about GSI Collapsible Fairshare Mug:
I bought this to used with my everyday backpack that i take with me everywhere. The idea was to have a cup that would pack down pretty small cause space in my backpack is limited. I also wanted something versatile (i.e. microwaveable, measure marks, easy to handle, seal-able, etc.)
When i got my hands on it, first thing i realized is that it is big and heavy. its 5 3/4 inches diameter at its widest and 3 1/2 at its narrowest. Open, its 3 3/4 inches deep.
Closed its 1 1/2.
For backpacking, i wouldn't want to bring it due to the size/weight issue and it isn't versatile enough (i cant use it to cook with over a flame). For my everyday bag, its the same reasons plus - it's NON-Microwaveable (but it is dishwasher safe).
Some positive things are that the handle, which seems pretty sturdy, folds up on top of the cup and the lid seams strong enough to keep your soup from spilling but not strong enough to keep it in if it got knocked over.
I didn't use this item because I am fairly certain that I am going to return it because it just isn't for me.
If you are looking for a collapsible cup/bowl that has a few multifunction perks(measuring gradients built in, folding handle, lid) then this is a great product for you if you don't mind the size.
The quality seems great and its a steal of a price, too. I said i would recommend this to a friend because i would, just not for myself :)

Comments about GSI Collapsible Fairshare Mug:
I just took this mug with me on a 3 day backpacking trip into the Sierras. What doesn't work well with it is the fact that it does not have a hard plastic bottom like the bowls made by Sea To Summit. When I had liquid in it the mug was very tippy and always threatening to fall over. The only way to somewhat stablize this 4" tall mug is to use the handle as a balance. Mug is the wrong word, it's more like a big gulp (20 oz). Although the handle can be adjusted to 3 settings (that includes closed over the lid) I have to use my thumb nail to unlock it to move it. Folding the mug down to pack it is a bit of a frustrating game too.

Comments about GSI Collapsible Fairshare Mug:
I actually own 2 of these mugs. I have one at work, which compacts nicely in my desk drawer. The second mug is in my pack ready to go.
I was intimidated by this product when I first got it, because of how wide it was in the opening. Lets admit it, its a bowl with a handle. But it works quite well with soup and top-ramen. It also retained heat a lot longer than I expected, with the lid on.
I wouldn't consider myself a minimalist backpacker, but I still try to cut weight and size where I can. A mug thats collapsible and has a handle that folds into itself fits quite nicely in my pack. I am finding that this mug is becoming a valuable tool, just as much as carrying a water bottle. It works just fine, it does what its suppose to do. Its a great product!

Comments about GSI Collapsible Fairshare Mug:
Saw this in a store and thought it would be perfect on the trail due to its compact collapsable design. Prior to purchase, I attempted to collapse a display model but was unable to and believed the difficulties were due to it having been played with to much. Regardless, I purchased a new one and after 45 exhausting minutes I gave up still unable to collapse the bowl to its minimum packing shape. I immediately returned it to the store. Great idea, poor design.
