Comments about Lowe Alpine Houdini Rope Bag/Daypack - 16 Liters - '09 Closeout:
This pack came folded into its own small pocket and weighed 10 ounces on my kitchen scale. Unfolded, I could fit my 9.4mm x 60m rope into it, but anything fatter than 9.8mm might be an issue. It has a grab loop and a hang loop and 6 other places to clip stuff. The thin waist belt is easily removed. The stuff pocket goes inside the pack when you unpack it for use and makes a zippered internal pocket. The back panel is not padded, but the panel where the thin shoulder straps hide away would take a bit of closed cell foam if you'd like some padding. No rope tarp
I wouldn't want to carry much weight for long hikes, but this is a clever modifiable piece of gear. Pack your rope in it on the way in, and have the second carry the descent shoes, jacket, etc... in it on the climb.

Comments about Lowe Alpine Houdini Rope Bag/Daypack - 16 Liters - '09 Closeout:
If I really stuff it in, this bag will hold my 10.5x60m rope wrapped in a tarp - but just barely. In my opinion, this bag is okay as very small, very thin lightweight backpack with no pockets - if you want something like that - but it does not have any features that make it a particularly good rope bag.
