The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes - Men's:
Before you buy this shoe, because of it's comfort and versitility, know that it will break in a half to a full size. Maybe try it on bare foot. Or just know that it hase to be tight and uncomfortable at first (just like any climbing shoe) in order to fit for the long run.

Comments about La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes - Men's:
Used a rented pair of these on Guide's Wall in the Tetons and they performed flawlessly on this multi-pitch granite route. I lost a toenail this spring due to a ski boot fit issue, and my foot was too tender to stuff into a 'real' climbing shoe, which people were telling me was suggested for this route. Well, I was comfy for the entire approach in these, then tightened the laces before the climb and basically forgot about them throughout the climb. They edged well and smeared like a champ up to 5.8 and the toe box even fit into cracks. They excelled best at getting a foothold in a corner position without a ledge and felt bomber. They were like slippers on the rock and I was amazed at the comfort. I'd EASILY recommend this shoes for multi-pitch climbs and long approaches. I'm not much of a sport climber and I may buy a pair of these and dispense with 'real' climbing shoes altogether!

Comments about La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes - Men's:
I have had these for 2 months and have worn them almost every day since.
I use these for hiking, bouldering, walking around town, approaches and to change into after a heavy weight lifting workout when I am so sore I cannot walk (except in these due to the cushioning--see below).
Without a doubt, the best I've owned.
They are incredibly comfortable. These are one of the few shoes or boots I have found that don't need a Superfeet or similar insole added. The cushioning La Sportiva built into this shoe is simply unbelievable. You literally bounce along the trail. For a long trail run on rough ground, or a hard hike, these shoes are absolutely ideal.
The sole and rand are fantastic. If you have narrow feet and ankles, as I do--these are great. The laces go around the ankle, and the way the laces are set up, they tighten extremely well and do not loosen.
I will be buying a second pair in case they stop making them!

Comments about La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes - Men's:
Nice improvement over the old cirque pro's which had sportivas super slippery and non durable dot tread. The new vibram sole is sticky and has a good aggresive tread pattern. I have used these in Eldo and Boulder canyon and they are good on the approach and comfortable. They are very stiff soled, which is good for insulating your feet from sharp stones, but highly padded, which is comfortable, but might be super hot in summer. So far so good.

Great shoe for scrabbling, approaches or just hanging out near lots of rocks. I used these in Yosemite Valley and other northern CA rocks. Great sticky rubber on everything, including that slippery mossy stuff. I will have to see how they hold up in the long run.

I live in Minneapolis where it's snowy and icy for about half the year. I use these kicks all year. From hiking to boulder problems at St. Croix to walking on ice to the grocery store, the BoulderX's have yet to fail me. They're practically waterproof, have chunky treads so you don't slip on the trail or ice, and are light enough to bike in during the start of the winter (before it goes below freezing). I bought them for the first time in March 2010 which I still use today for biking. I visited my brother in Seattle last October and picked up my second pair there for some hiking (forgot to bring shoes for the outdoors). I love these shoes and I'll probably get a third pair next year.

Comments about La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes - Men's:
Great shoes. Super sticky soles. Rugged construction. This is a second pair. Worked great on a 40 mile hike in Grand Canyon and several hikes through slot canyons in Utah.
May require some break in. Wish they came in wide sizes, since I have to get +1 size for the width to fit (I have wide feet).
All in all best shoe so far I found for hiking, approaches, canyoneering.

Great Shoe! Picked these up at boca park REI right before heading out to red rocks. Wasn't sure if it was going to be good idea to put 10 miles of tough approaches on brand new shoes, but these things were amazing! No blisters or hot spots. They run small, I wear 9.5M and the 10 were tight. Great traction, good cushion, and durable materials. All and all, good choice for an moderate approach shoe.

Comments about La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes - Men's:
I was in the same boat as the first reviewer. My toes were pretty tender from my climbing shoes, so I wanted something to wear while they recovered. I picked up a pair of these and they really exceeded my expectations. After climbing some 5.9s in the gym with them I decided to use them on 5.8 multipitch at Red Rocks. I climbed Lotta Balls as well as all of Johnny Vegas and Solar Slab in these. Both smearing and edging are fantastic. I was also trying to decide between these and 5.10's model, and I'm glad I went with these. I saw the 5.10 model at the store and the rubber around the toe area seemed to have a better edge to it on these shoes.

Comments about La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoes - Men's:
I love these shoes. I have had four pais of Salomon's and every pair has been poorly made and way over priced. I went with the Sportiva's and will never have another hiking shoe. It rocks everything from hiking to the crag, to climbing the crag (granted it's below 5.8), to cruising the street, and going to the grocery store. Do yourself a favor and grab a pair.
