Comments about Kelty Galactic +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I purchased this for one major reason...I HATE mummy bags! I move around a lot in my sleep and mummy bags make me feel way too confined, especially after a long hike. That said, I decided this bag might work for my backpacking excursions. I have never made a better decision. The versatility of this bag is amazing, I can use it as a quilt in warmer weather and I have slept in it down to 20 degrees and stayed warm. It has attachment points for your sleeping pad, and a semi-hood type thing to draw it tight around your head kind of like a mummy, but much less claustrophobic. You can shake the down into position, so you don't waste (compress) as much insulation on the ground. I can fit mine in a small 8L eVent stuff sack and get it really small when I'm trying to save space, but I try not to do that too often because it's down. The only issues I have with this bag are:
1) It should be easier to find and look at in the brick and mortar stores, I bought it sight unseen on a hunch that it might be the right bag for me, luckily it was, but I prefer checking things over with my own two eyes before I buy them.
2) I wish they mad a colder weather version of the same bag, but a good liner may just be all you need.
If you need a decent bag, but hate the idea of cramming your tired legs into a mummy bag, consider the Galactic.

If you are looking for legroom - this is about the lightest/warmest rectangle bag I have seen - just got it and think it will be awesome for 3 season (in the south) and still pretty small/light. Great buy.

Comments about Kelty Galactic +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I really dont ever write reviews but I love this bag so much that I had to share since no one else has. First of all this is really a great bag. I am about to leave on a year long mission trip around the world and I can only carry a pack, so I had to make sure I got a sleeping bag that is lightweight and packs small. I had originally bought an Eureka! mummy bag but It was very tight and I couldnt move around at all, therefor I returned it. I was looking for a mummy style bag b/c I thought it would pack down smaller but this one really packs down small & there is so much room. I'm 5'5 and 130lbs but I imagine that this would work for the larger campers too. I also really like that you can unzip the bottom or unzip the whole thing and then you basically have a down comforter. I slept in it for a week with temperatues getting down to the 30's and I was warm all night (my head was a little cold since its not a mummy bag, but my hat fixed that). BUY IT!
I will write another post when I return from using it for a full year in December 2011!
