T6061 aluminum Trail SL frame features double-butted tubes and an oversized headtube and headset for improved strength, stiffness and overall handling performance
RST Deuce 1.5 Coil suspension fork features 100mm of travel to soak up hard hits; lockout is easy to access on the go and rebound adjustment lets you customize performance
SRAM X-5 shifters and derailleurs perform smoothly as you shift through the full 27-speed drivetrain, which is powered via the FSA Dyna-Drive crankset
Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes provide rapid deceleration when needed, even in muddy and wet conditions
Maddux DC3.0 double-walled rims are laced onto Formula hubs for reliable rolling performance; Kenda Nevegal tires take care of traction

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. I've had this bike for less than a month I use it to commute to work fo about 10 miles to and from work 2-3x's/week. I specifically requested to swap out the tires for Continental Travel Contact tires instead of the Nevegal tires for a smoother ride. I definitely have no regrets buying this bike and didn't pay more than a thousand for a great hardtail. I love the way it looks with the Matte black touch and I know that from the asethetics it gets alot of attention from other commuters on the road. With the 27 gears, I dont have the men in tights squad passing me up anymore. Its a beast climbing.. Tomorrow I'm testing the trails.. I very happy with the 2010 F-5, no problems yet[...]. I'm always looking forward to riding this bike either on the road or on the trails.. thanks REI Rockville.

i purchased my my bike about 3 weeks ago, this is my first pretty expensive mountain bike, worth the investment. after a year of hard dedication to lose wieght it was getting boring with the same routines so a buddy told me to invest in a mountain bike and try something different.so after alot of window shopping and talking to different sales reps, when i seen this bike i knew it was the one lol... all in all it was worth every penny, i love this bike and the freedom i have when i hit the trails and down hills with it "gotta love the Adrenalin rush". after 3 days of purchasing the bike,i mean every bike is gonna have thier defects and mine just happend to be the chain [...]cant really say much more then, i love my 2010 cannondale f5 and the head turns i get when people see my bike is a awsome feeling...

I have had the 2009 version for one year with almost no complaints. The only thing I've felt I needed to change so far is to get bigger platform pedals. I'm only a year in (so still a beginner) but take this out almost every weekend and,for the most part, have been able to hang with more advanced riders and bikes. This is a great bike for a beginner. I'm thinking about installing better (bigger) disc brakes - otherwise I'm extremely happy with this purchase.
