Comments about CamelBak Alpine Explorer Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I picked this pack up today and used it for a quick 7 mi. hike. The pack is very comfortable, has plenty of separation w/ the amount of pockets, plenty of pocket space, snazzy design, etc.
My pooch(pug) conked out about 3/4 the way through the hike, so i put him in the pack and carried him the rest of the way. There was plenty of space, as he was deep in the pocket with only his head and arms hanging out of it.
After using the pack the way i did today, I'm really pleased with this product. From today's use, I truly feel this pack can be used for pretty much anything...not just on trails. Even though, there are most definitely fancier (and more expensive) packs out there, this pack does the trick and then some. I have an outdoor concert to go to in June, and this pack is coming. IMO, it's multipurpose, so I have to give this beauty 5 *'s! And the price isn't all that bad, especially for a CB product.

Comments about CamelBak Alpine Explorer Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
Great bag. I am a college student and often have to carry around several textbooks and a laptop. Despite being young and at peak physical fitness, lugging around a heavy, cheap, non-ergonomic backpack was really taking a toll on my back and shoulders. With the alpine explorer, it is a delight carrying all my heavy school gear. The waist and chest straps provide excellent comfort, stability and weight distribution. And the chest strap can slide up and down, which is a cool feature that many bags lack. Deep, snug water bottle pockets on both sides keep water bottles very secure. This bag is also perfect for day hikes, and I might even consider taking it on long bike excursions.

Comments about CamelBak Alpine Explorer Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I must say, this is a great day pack. I've used it for hiking just for the water reservoir, and used the large capacity for camping, taking extra clothes to work, or various weekend trips. This pack even accompanied me on a 2-week mission trip to a dusty village in South Africa and it held everything I needed (for minimalism, not comfort).
I actually received this as a Christmas gift from my mom. I had done the beautiful yet brutal 18 mile round trip to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite and was ill-prepared both water and clothing wise. Afterward I looked at all the different camelbaks and this one would have been perfect for that trip, holding lots of water and space for food and clothing with a comfortable hip strap to distribute the weight.
Overall, this is the best backpack I've ever owned by far. If you're looking for the combo of a handy camelbak water reservoir and a superb backpack for hiking or travel, this is obviously it.
p.s. I have an older model than the one pictured above, has a slightly different configuration for the outer pocket. I'm wearing it in my profile pic, but you can't really see it

Bought this pack in order to pack gear while running with my son to/from sports, school, etc.. Also to run with a change of clothes to work. Has great capacity to fit what I need, most of all was very comfortable. Ran 7 miles home from a basketball game with his court shoes, clothes, 2 water bottles. Pack didn't bounce around at all and the airflow on the back also made this comfortable. Very pleased with purchase and would recommend to runners and will use also for daytrips and just generally to haul stuff around. I'm not big on the hydration component, just prefer a water bottle but am sure I'll use the bladder at some point in time.
