Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
I typically buy Marmot outerwear as I have found that over the years the gear lasts and functions great. This E-line jacket did not disappoint.

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
Perfect for cool to moderately cold weather. In the wind, it's not so great. The sleeves are very breathable, so cold wind pierces right through it. Great light jacket, though.

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
Absolutely love this jacket from Marmot. If you're looking for a great looking, comfortable and wind/water resistant soft shell, this jacket delivers on all fronts.
Very comfortable and roomy. I really like the material Marmot used on this jacket. I have used it in light rain and snow and it did a great job of repelling moisture while still remaining breathable. Plus, I have gotten several positive comments about the looks and color. I've worn it to work as well as out on the town, very versatile!
My only criticisms are the absence of a drawstring at the waist and a hood that is slightly too big, for me at least. I'm rather tall and lean so i prefer my coats to be able to cinch at the waist to give me a better fit. The E-line jacket doesn't have this option. Also the hood gets in my vision b/c of its long length but this can be remedied by cinching two drawstrings on the hood. Very minor criticisms and overall I love this jacket and would definitely buy one again!

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
I like everything about this jacket. The style, pockets, material and comfort are all great. Looks good and keeps me dry in the heaviest of rain. It also breathes well and I forget it stopped raining and is 80+ some days.
Also works great for caual rainwear as the style is nice and the pockets give room for everything you might want to carry. The pockets keep warm and dry. I've yet to have any water make it through the jacket even at the zippers. Everything just beads and rolls off with no aftermarket treatments.
The only only complaints are there is a good deal of ride up when arms are lifted and I felt the sleeves are a bit short. I'm 5'10", 165lbs and went with the large for sleeve length even though the medium was a better fit.

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
Slightly expensive, but the excellent quality and stylish fit easily make up for the cost. Perfect for cold nights out or light rain, would work as a layer for snow. I get compliments on the jacket every time I wear it out; the ladies love it, and so do I.

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
The fabric is GREAT. It has a slight stretch that makes it very comfortable and perfect for movement activities like skiing/snowboarding. It is a shell only and does not provide too much protection from the cold, and does not breath particularly well. I am willing to overlook these shortcomings because the jacket is stylish and it fits very well (I am tall/skinny 6'3" and have a size L)

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
Marmot advertises this jacket as a casual, urban jacket. This is because it's not as waterproof as their other lines of rain gear, and a bit heavier/thicker. I have taken it backpacking with me many times, and it has performed great in the rain. It's never soaked through, though the felt inside can collect a bit of sweat if you're using it during strenuous activity. Before I took it out, I ran the jacket under the tap for a couple minutes, and no water soaked through, so felt confident in taking it into the wild with me.
Before I took it backpacking, I treated it with Nikiwax Softshell Waterproofer, just in case. The jacket is very handsome, and it stretches which I found very handy while trekking. It served me well in ocean mists, heavy winds, and occasional heavy showers. However, I would take it out in places that might receive all day showers like Alaska or Olympic NP. For that, I'd use one of Marmot's more heavy duty lines of rain gear.
But if you're going out backpacking and not expecting much rain, or just traveling around the city, the Marmot E-Line jacket is a good option because it's breathable and stretchy, so you won't get soaked from your own sweat or accidentally tear the fabric like you might with a less stretchy nylon.

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
This is my favorite casual jacket. It is both functional, versatile, and stylish. I can wear it to work or on a casual date, yet it is very functional. It has a lot of pockets, both inside and out, yet the jacket doesn't feel bulky. The material is water resistant, so it works well if you just need to walk to/from your car in the rain while keeping you dry. Just don't expect it be completely waterproof if you need something that will dry for hours in a downpour. The pockets are fleece lined and feel very nice.
Highly recommended!!

Comments about Marmot E Line Jacket - Men's:
This jacket completely exceeded my expectations. Quality of construction is great. All zippers work smooth, stitching is straight and the selection of materials is top notch. The jacket has a bit of stretch in the shell material, so it is very comfortable to wear. Fleece lining in the pockets is very warm. It is reasonably wind resistant and the water resistance surprised me. Light mist or rain easily beads up and rolls off. Moderate to heavy rain will eventually wet out the garment. But this isn't rain gear and that's not why I bought it. I wore it in a heavy downpour for about 200 yds from my car to the building. The shoulders and top of the hood were slightly wetted out, but the inside of the jacket was still dry. I hung the jacket up in my cubicle and checked it 30 minutes later - it was dry. Oh, and I love the lack of elastic in the cuffs. Easy on and off - no grabbing my clothes underneath as I take the jacket off.
The jacket is warm for its weight, but it has very little insulation, so don't expect it to be very warm on cold days. Best layered over a fleece or wicking layer if it is cold out.
Read some comments about the fit being slim, but that is not my experience. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs, average build, and the XL fits me great. I can easily layer a fleece under it without feeling restricted.
If you care about this (I don't really) - I have gotten several comments from folks I didn't know telling me they thought my jacket was nice. Most recently in line at the grocery store. Guess it is good looking (since I know it isn't me!).
