Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack:
[...] So far "Greg" has been on a few adventures- a week long backpack trip in Big Bend- and a long weekend at Palo Duro canyon in Texas. It has held up great! It packs amazing and has little nooks and crannies for everything you need- thus helping you stay organized. The pack is very comfortable and feels like you're carrying air, but I agree don't over pack it- I would say 40 lbs mim. I'm very happy with this pack and would recommend it to anyone.
Service and delivery comments:
They delivered it right away but the mail-man didn't get it to me, because I live in a house behind someone Else's house. He ended up sending it back to REI. I didn't know about this ( I just thought it took awhile to deliver) and and REI representative contacted me about it- She was very sweet and made lots of notes, and got it to me ASAP.
Thanks REI :)

Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack:
I like the fat that the pack can be made small, by removing the hood and reworking the straps without it getting goofy and sloppy.
I would rather have webbing on the sides of the waist belt, instead of the condom pockets.

Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack:
Just arrived back from a short hike up Siphon Draw Trial (continuing to Flatiron) in the Superstition Mountains, AZ. I loaded the Z55 with 32 pounds and threw it on my back. First, I was really surprised how well this pack distributed the weight to my hips. In fact, this pack is so well balanced (adjust well too) that I RAN down the lower section of the trail and the Z55 stuck to my body like glue. Secondly, this pack has awesome ventilation. After the hike I dismounted the pack and the majority of my back was dry, due to the fact that the pack only really contacts your back at the base and shoulder blades. This might not sound that amazing, but keep in mind that it averaged 113F most of the hike. My only complaint is that whatever foam they use in the shoulder blade area is loud; an open cell foam scrunching sound. In short, very nice, versatile pack. Go try one on.

Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack:
[Never before awarded a 5 - not even to grandchild.] Just finished 10 mile break-in hike with 35# aboard up 2700' on 14% grade, and back down. Perfect adjustable features.
Gregory: Don't change a thing - material, strings, straps, design - all are perfect. If for whatever loosely thoughtout reason you decide to discontinue this model, please send me the last 2 off the line....preferably in color easily spotted by SAR...
Finally donated my Z pack to charity after 1900 miles of abuse. Nobody is getting this one...

Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack:
This pack is worth the money. I have taken mine against rough granite in the Sierras for 3 day climbs at 34lbs; to Colorado soloing with 55 lbs. Yes i said 55. I know this pack is not rated for this but it took it like a champ. I am rough on gear and want to test the limits. Gregory is USA made and they stand by there products. It compresses great and gets your essentials where you need them. I look forward to trying out there expedition packs. We are a spoiled generation with great gear to pick from. Only reason i didnt give 5 stars is nothings perfect.

Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack:
This is a great pack provided you are using it for the right things! It is a great backpacking/hiking backpack that is on the lighter side but still has a lot of room. It is not, however, ultralight (or ultra... heavy). It's a durable, mid-weight, comfortable pack. Just don't overload it! 35-40 lbs max!

Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack:
I hike a lot in the Sierras, and this pack is just about perfect for the 2-3 night outing.
The past weekend I went x-country skiing to the Glacier Point and hit by an epic blizzard (see the weather report in the Yosemite last week of January), and the pack held up no problem. I really appreciated the side access to get the stuff out in intense snow storm with the gloves on without emptying the entire bag. From the High Sierras to Death Valley, this durable bag got me through with comfort and ease. I very highly recommend this bag.
