Comments about Chippewa Hiker Trail Shoes - Men's - '08 Closeout:
These are well made shoes, which have been poorly designed. First of all, they weigh a ton. Like walking with cinder blocks strapped to your feet! Worse, the tongue is attached to the inside of the shoe by thick stitching which immediately rubs the arch on both sides. I never wore them out of the house, but they'd cripple you within a mile on the trail.

Comments about Chippewa Hiker Trail Shoes - Men's - '08 Closeout:
I'm a pro photographer who spends a lot of time on my feet during an outdoor shoot. I bought these shoes to provide a soft comfortable and supportive platform for all day shoots and have been delighted with my choice. They are very comfortable and stable shoes with great traction over uneven surfaces and rocks carrying my heavy load of camera gear to and from a location. They felt a little stiff and bulky during a break-in period that lasted about 2 weeks, but have moulded to my feet nicely and provide great support. These shoes are very rugged, look and feel like they will last forever, and as such are heavier than trail running shoes which I would select if I were climbing or walking all day on fairly groomed surfaces. They are well padded and the vibram sole provides excellent traction over rocks and uneven surfaces especially if you're carrying a heavily loaded pack.
