Comments about REI Flip Top Stainless-Steel Water Bottle - 18 fl. oz.:
I like the flip top lid. No struggling unscrewing to drink. Just pop the lid and drink.
I also like that it's tapered in the middle. It makes it easier to hold.

Comments about REI Flip Top Stainless-Steel Water Bottle - 18 fl. oz.:
Probably the most practical and well-designed "everyday water bottle" I have ever used! And at a great price! I previously used a Kleen Kanteen 27oz bottle, but found it very heavy and cumbersome to carry around all the time and the spout design made the contents spill all over me when trying to take a drink of water while in a moving vehicle. And the squeaky, forever-to-unscrew-top just didn't make it very practical to me.
I love the size of the REI Flip Top Stainless Steel Bottle (18oz), as well as the tapered design which makes it easy to grasp. The flip-top is great and has never accidently opened or spilled on me. I love the way it easily flips opens with just a nudge of your thumb. Also… the polypropylene base actually acts as a coaster! If I was to pick at anything (and I mean pick), I would like to see a plastic mesh/screen in the drink spout so tiny pieces of ice wouldn't easily come through or get lodged in the spout. Also, some sort of flip-top lock would make me feel better about laying the bottle down (although I doubt it can easily open unintentionally).

Comments about REI Flip Top Stainless-Steel Water Bottle - 18 fl. oz.:
I bought this about 8 months ago and had used it almost daily till about 2 months ago. Love how easy it is to get the lid opened - single handed action! Especially great in the car and when at the gym.
I've been washing my bottle out as per instructions and air drying. I stopped using my bottle as it developed a slightly stale odor but thought nothing of it. Then I ran my finger under the inside rim to check and to my horror the inside of the bottle right at the neck where the stainless meets plastic was crusted with brackish gunk! The flip top lid stopper also developed this gunk. I love this bottle design enough to thoroughly clean and sterilize my bottle then put it back to use again. This bottle really needs to be upper rack dishwasher safe so that it can be sterilized and dried properly.

This bottle is always with me in my kayak. Doesn't leak, stays cold, and has a great flip top. I can easily attach a carabiner and clip it to my kayak or clip it to my belt loop while hiking. I Love It.!.

We've tried so many water bottles and have really put them to the test with the ones that the kids take to school everyday. This is by far our favorite!

Comments about REI Flip Top Stainless-Steel Water Bottle - 18 fl. oz.:
I purchased this bottle six months ago, and I used it in the car and at the office--relatively light use. I liked the color, but it scratched off easily where it rubbed against the car cupholder. Not really a big deal to me, though. Last week the hinge on the flip top broke, rendering the bottle useless for travel. I was pretty surprised that the cap broke; it had seemed durable and I hadn't abused it. The bottle had not been dropped or banged around. Disappointing product.

I mainly use the flip spout water bottle instead of a water bottle for basketball games. When my kids use it, they remarked that they couldn't drink as easily as out of a camelbak with a bite valve. The hole could be a little bigger. My kids have broken 2 camelbak lids. I'm not sure how kid proof this bottle will be, but so far it's adequate. I'll have to see how durable this bottle turns out. I like the new product from another company that makes a replacement lid with a screw on spout. That seems to make it a better bottle.

Good bottle, I was for something that was less than a whole quart and this 18 ouncer seems to fit the bill. Would be nice if it could hold hot liquids. Cant find any faults with it except it looks like a sippy cup for adults.

Comments about REI Flip Top Stainless-Steel Water Bottle - 18 fl. oz.:
I have been disappointed in "sippy cup" designs like Camelback, as I cannot get a full drink. This design lets me take a real drink. Because of the stainless steel, I use it mainly at the gym, to drink my protein drink. You need to be careful, though, to clean the O-ring in the lid; it can get grungy. A soaking in a chlorine solution once in a while takes care of the bacteria issue.
I like the size of this one, since I use it for my protein drink or juice with lunch. However, the flip-top lid is a little close to the spout when open, so I need to turn the bottle about a 1/4 turn to get the cap out of the way of my nose.
I also note that, when I close the cap, there is no snap or click to tell me it is really closed. I just have to get used to assuming it is closed when I press down. So far it has not failed me. Once in a while the cap pops off when I open it, but I just snap it back on. I would say it could use a better design for the cap, as I have to get my thumb under the edge of the cap to flip it up. A deeper indent in the cap would help there.

Comments about REI Flip Top Stainless-Steel Water Bottle - 18 fl. oz.:
I bought this container online, and was disappointed to find that I could pretty much, only use cold water in it. I made the most of it though. I found it to be just the right size to carry water with supplements added. I would normally find this to be too small to bother carrying water (I prefer a liter or more). One day, the bottle slipped from my hand, landed on the floor, and promptly drained the bottle of most of the contents. The lid had not just flipped open, but weakened so that the next time I opened the flip lid, it broke right off. I liked the idea of a flip lid, but this bottle is not durable enough for the every day use I would put it through. If it gives out the first time it's dropped, well, that won't work. I settled for a slim, slightly larger capacity REI thermos cup, which is the bomb! I gave that one 5 stars. This way I can do hot or cold, but I am already impressed with the hot.
