Novara Carema offers comfort, quality and sportiness in a women-specific road bike that's great for tackling your first century, building fitness, commuting or just riding for fun.

  • 6061 aluminum frame is strong and fatigue resistant; sport geometry sets you more upright than race geometry, enhancing long-ride comfort
  • Kinesis carbon fork delivers solid steering and damps minor road vibrations, reducing harsh shockwaves traveling through hands, arms, shoulders and back
  • FSA Vero triple crankset features lightweight and durable cold-forged aluminum arms; ramped and pinned chainrings give crisp shifting and years of solid use
  • Triple chainrings let you storm hills, rocket descents and race flats; 9-cog rear cassette dials in resistance for cadence, wind or slope changes
  • Shimano Sora shifters and derailleurs are light and responsive and deliver the reliability you expect from Shimano components
  • Shimano long-reach brakes enhance tire clearance and accommodate fenders easily (fenders sold separately)
  • Features low-resistance Vittoria Zaffiro tires mounted on lightweight, smooth-handling Alex DA-22 rims
  • Elegant San Marco Ischia women's saddle is contoured and padded to support sit bones through long training rides
  • Platform pedals with toe cages let you wear everyday shoes while keeping feet secure on the pedals
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2010:

Before this bike I've only riden a mountain bike that was too big for me, but my boyfriend rides and loves it. I've always wanted to get into riding for exercise and also to commute to work on. So after lots of research and shopping, I settled on this road bike. I am so glad I did. It is a great first bike for me and one that I can grow into. So far, so good. It's comfortable, easy to shift, light, and has excellent components (well, that's what my boyfriend tells me). The front wheel is also very easy to remove and re-install. Since I haven't done any real riding, I'm not ready for clips yet, so the 'caged' pedals are a nice way to gently introduce me to both the motion AND to having my feet somewhat locked in. Plus, I could start riding right away and didn't need to purchase additional equipment along with the bike.It is also so cute - I've received compliments from several people.[...]

Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2010:

I bought this for my wife to replace an excellent tri bike she had been using for the past 10 years but that would not accommodate brake lever shifters. This frame is as good as a Terry for a woman's build with the length and slope of the top tube. Shifting with the brake levers has been great with my wife shifting twice as much before and putting less strain on her knees. Replaced the pedals with ones for QR cleats and replaced the saddle with a Terry one but otherwise the bike was near perfect. REI did a great job with the setup too. Add a rack for a rear set of panniers and this would be an excellent bike for touring.

Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2010:

I bought this bike 4 months ago and have put about 2,400 miles on it! (Also rode the STP in one day - it was a champ.) With a bunch of minor adjustment tweaks, a new saddle and clipless pedals it fits great. It's also my first road bike and I will probably upgrade to a better component set at some point but for now I LOVE it and it has served me well through my initial training period. The granny gears on this thing are awesome - I live at the top of a switch-back hill and probably wouldn't be able to get home without it!

The only down sides are the weight (it's pretty heavy) and the so-so components but for the price you can't really ask for more.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2010:

My husband is a triathlete, so he's been working to get me interested in the sport for a while. I am a runner, but because I love him and new adventures, I'm giving cycling a whirl. I am obviously a beginnner cyclist, but from my experience on this bike (and from what my husband tells me), this is a great one! It rides smooth, is easy to handle, has good components, and I really enjoy riding it. The seat isn't comfortable, but really, is any bike seat that way? :) Would definitely buy this one again.
