by Rand-aidfromlegitimate hiking bootI've been looking for an insulated boot that I can honestly hike in for miles and this one is better than expected so far. These have carried me through mud, slippery rock and lots of snow and I'm very pleased with their hiking worthiness. My feet feel perfectly cradled and the mid sole is not too soft nor too stiff. If you're familiar with Merrells these are more rigid than the Radius, but not quite as rigid as the Chameleon. For me, they're just right for the height of the boot. The insulation is noticeably warmer than a non-insulated boot although my toes still get cold in these when standing on snow for an hour or longer. The sole pattern is a bit strange. I'm assuming it's design is specifically for snow but it seems to behave quite adequately on dirt and rock although it does pick up lots of mud. The only true dislike are the laces. They will not stayed tied unless double knotted. This isn't just a Merrell thing as my Asolos do the same thing, but why can't a shoe lace in the 21st century be made of a non-slick material?

by Ronald119fromawesomeThese guys are awesome. The soles are a stiff and they're heavy. But they're awesome otherwise. Very comfortable, very durable, great traction, great looking, very warm, very waterproof. They're a 10.
