Comments about SIGG Retro Screw Top Bottle - 32 oz.:
i used it in montana while hiking and during a habitat for humanity build. it isn't a fast unscrewing top, but is NOT PLASTIC...but solid metal with a rubber leak guard!
you must take your time to carefully get the treads on the right track...but i don't like plastic so i am so happy to have this one!
no bad metal taste like some bottle brands...water tasted pure and cold hours later!
very lightweight...the contents are the weight...i was suprized how durable it was for the lightness!
it ain't cheap...but concider the cost of buying a bottle of water to refilling this one!
i carry it with me when walking and bus riding, at work and school, and only the white paint is getting dirty.
if you get a darker color, or all silver, you likely won't have any issue with that.

As the title says Scotch and whiskey does not mix well with the sigg. I had to transport some scotch home from work one day and didn't want to take the half empty bottle with me. In as little as a 45 minute train ride home. the smell of scotch remained for two weeks. I tried washing it out everyday, I had finally broke down on the last day bought the sigg cleaning tablets to do the job. It took two cleanings with the tablets to get rid of the smell.
Despite the smell issue its a great hardcore bottle for the everyday and car camping. would not take on a ultralight or backpacking trip. too much weight. Better alternatives like platypus water bags and camelbacks for larger amounts of water reserve to weight ratio. As well as being more compatible with water filter pumps.
Also new as of last week. Old sigg bottles with old liners contain BPA, although they say it does not leach in water. Google "sigg, bpa, liners" and i'm sure you can find more info on it.

Comments about SIGG Retro Screw Top Bottle - 32 oz.:
I would not recommend buying this because the lid is so hard to screw on. After using other bottles, including the plastic top Sigg types, and the nalgenes, which you can simply backtrack a little bit until you feel the threads drop, this is very frustrating. I use it at my office as an open-top water cup now.
Even if you get the threads just right, you have to screw it two full rotations. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I think comparable vessels are less, and you can't just give it one flip of the wrist and let it screw itself on--you have to actively turn the cap.

Comments about SIGG Retro Screw Top Bottle - 32 oz.:
From air travel, to road trips, and camping, I love the durability and versatility of this bottle. The one draw back is that I wish Sigg made their bottles with a wide mouth. Either way, it's still more than worth while. :)

if you're going to buy a sigg, i would definitely recommend getting the retro. unlike most siggs, after dropping this one hard a couple of times, you can barely tell anything happened - it seems far more durable than most of their bottles. and just like the rest of their bottles, the water that comes out of it tastes exactly like the water you put into it, even if it's been sitting in the floor in the back seat of your car all week.

I have used this product everywhere. driving, at home. I have used it instead of plastic water bottles.
It has great capacity.
the sad thing, is, that after several months of using it, the lid would not screw on anymore, and it actually pulled right out.
I got my bag that I carry stuff in all wet, the seat to my car all wet.
the lid just would not screw on anymore and just pulls out with a slight tug.

I bought this bottle a month ago and the inner lining (i.e. paint) is coming off in large chips near the threads. Very scary since I'm sure I've consumed some of the chips and SIGG won't say what it's made of.
This is their new (post-August 2008) lining, which SIGG claims no longer has BPA, but quite disappointing from what I thought was the best manufacturer.

I bought this after looking for a metal bottle for awhile. It worked out great. I got the panther black which if you leave in the direct sun will heat water. If kept in shade on hot days, I have used it many days around 90 F, it will be cooler than outside air.
The covering on the bottle can chip. On the first camping trip I took it on it bounced around when I set down on a rocky surface and chipped but only slight chipping on the bottom of bottle and the bottle isn't dented.

Ok, so I was very hesitant about getting this because of all the reviews about the metal screw cap. I purchased the standard plastic cap to replace the metal one, but found out that the "retro cap" is now plastic. THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAP.
