The 12 in. Novara Stinger is the perfect learning bike for the new rider in your family.

  • Durable steel frame is almost as tough as the kid who rides it, so you can count on years of reliable service passed down from one child to the next
  • Rear coaster brake is easy to use, so the young rider feels comfortable and in control
  • Training wheels and built-in chainguard help kids learn to ride without fear of tipping over or catching pants in the chain

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

This is a wonderful, solidly built beginner boy's bike. Unlike the majority of beginner 12" machines, this one is a scaled down BMX bike. It has a very solid feel and quality parts. This bike is very smooth to ride. My 5 y/o son who has been riding on a training wheel equipped bike for a couple of years jumped on this one w/o the training wheels installed and was riding by himself in around 15min. We could not be happier!

This bike is very WELL worth the money spent. My husband and I got this for our 3 year old grandson and it is a very solid and well put together bicyle. We didn't even have to assemble it; the store already did it. And it comes with nice sturdy training wheels and not like those wobbly ones that you get on a bike like Wal-Mart or Target. We live in a rural area and even if he is just learning to ride it he rides it fine in ALL terrain. But of course its going to get stuck in sand and mud as any bike will. The only one thing I can think of with this bike as far as a Con is that it is a little heavy. I know we will definitely got our moneys worth from buying this bike and it will last him a long time until he will need a bigger bicycle. CAN'T GET A BETTER BUILT BIKE!!
