My husband went night fishing with a friend and had to pick up a cheapie headlamp at a 24 hour discount store. The one he purchased didn't produce much light, and he was envious of his buddy's super expensive headlamp.
I bought this for him, and we liked it so much we just purchased another one.
The light is adjustable about 90 degrees, so you have the ability to focus the beam in the direction you want. There are 3 LEDs which will blind you if you look into them (did that accientally). Produced plenty of light on high. Since we just got it, I'm not sure how accurate the battery life estimates are. But since it takes AAA, we'll likely take spare batteries with us when we camp to be on the safe side.
Operation is simple once you know it: there is one button. Push it once for high, twice for medium, 3 times for low, 4 times for slow flash, and 5 times for fast flash. And then one more time to turn it off. We didn't realize you had to push the button a certain way to get different settings until we read the instructions, but now I've just saved you that hassle.
The band is comfortable; and the camo color goes well with all of our drab hiking gear.
I would say its a bit heavy, but not uncomfortably so. We picked up a different brand during the past sale, and it was heavier IMO.

I have worn one of these out but it took a few years of heavy abuse. I have 2 at home right now. Simple, comfortable and the battery life is great.
