I bought this at the end of season and really have not had a chance to wear out on hiking conditions or more in the wet weather conditions. So I really can"t evaluate for those conditions. I plan to layer it with my rain jacket.

Perfect jacket. Welcome departure from the played out TNF Denali jacket. Material is soft, high loft is very warm, stretch panels are perfect and fit is what I would expect in an XS.

I usually avoid Mountain Hardwear, because I think they are always way overpriced. But I was specifically looking for a heavier grade fleece jacket at REI, and somehow, none was to be found--except this. This was just the right amount of thickness and weight, and although at 1/2 off sale, it was still rather steep, I reluctantly bought it. And worn it ever since, for just about anything. Although heavier grade, it's so soft and cushy and amazingly packable into my tiny Golite pack, so warm and light and comfy and stretchy that it's the first thing I reach for for just about everything. It's become my security blanket-jacket. I get compliments on the dark teal color, too. Darn you, Mountain Hardwear!

This Monkey Woman is a-mazing. I love love love it straight out of the bag. I bought the white one in two sizes, medium and large. Medium to wear casually for lounging and walking the dog, large for when I am sporting my bulging belly due to pregnancy and for layering more underneath. Both sizes are perfect.
For reference, I am 5'7, slim build, average length torso, 130lbs. The medium has a relaxed fit on me. I don't need to pull it down to avoid flashing my lower back, but it doesn't look baggy. The arms are very generously sized, so if you are broad shouldered or more muscular, it will still fit. The collar is beautiful, stands up just enough to keep the neck toasty without a scarf, but it's not tight to feel constricting.
The large on my build can definitely be worn more as an outer lauer over a light/medium weight sweater. The medium is best over short sleeves or thin henley.
My only concern is washing/drying it. My husband has the monkey man and it scorched/singed in a standard dryer, so be careful not to dry it too hot.
Overall a MUST BUY, in fact, I want to replace all my sweatshirts with Monkey women, now that I've tasted the koolade!!

I'm hesitant to give this product 3 starts. I'd prefer to give it 5 based on its functionality. It has everything I was looking for in a fleece. It's comfortable, warm, the sleeves are fitted at the bottom, it has pockets just where you need it. In all honesty, I sincerely almost love this fleece.
I wore it around the house and outside to test it out before I went backpacking and I absolutely adored it.
I have one problem with it and one problem only. To put it bluntly: it sheds all over the place
It was great during the excursion but the moment we entered the tent little fuzzy particles started to appear. As the night progressed the tent was covered with the particles from the fleece.
That being said, I recommend this product for it's warmth and comfort. But if the idea of shedding bothers you, I wouldn't recommend it.
