I am currently working on a movie in Detroit. I needed an all around jacket that would be a waterproof shell for rain and snow. I wore it the other day with 35mph winds and it was perfect with a couple base layers and a fleece underneath. The next day it rained all day. I was in the rain all day.
North Face needs to change the copy on the description of this jacket.
It is not waterproof. The inside of both front pockets were soaked by mid afternoon. The jacket was saturated with water and became heavier than I would have liked but I was still dry.
I would say the jacket would be perfect for wind and snow as my outer layer but definitely not for all day in the rain.
