Comments about Old Town Guide 147 Canoe:
This is a pretty nice canoe. Its comfortable, fast, and maneuverable. I use mine for mostly class 2-3 rivers for day trips and on big multi-night trips. This canoe is meant for passengers I'd say no more than 200lbs each, it becomes a lot less maneuverable when there are bigger guys in it. Also when doing overnight trips you need to be pretty creative on how to pack all your gear into because of the lack of places to tie stuff to. The canoe material is very tough and durable, and does not leak anywhere.

Comments about Old Town Guide 147 Canoe:
My model is 4 yrs old, it is almost identical except there is no seat backs.
We have it at our lake cabin for short distance, light recreation use. No portage or transfer. It is pretty heavy in my opinion. Easy movement and agile in water; material solid, no defects to date. 2 adults + a kid in the middle ok. Not meant for single person use - quite unstable.

Comments about Old Town Guide 147 Canoe:
I had been looking for a decent canoe for a decent price for a while, this one really fit the bill! I have used it in both small ponds, and also on the Mississippi River. It handles both extremely well. I am preparing to put it through the rigors next spring witha BWCA trip, I am a little bit concerned about the amount of room to put stuff, but that's probably good to keep me from packing too much! It can be a bit tricky to fish out of because you are that much closer to the other person, just need to be aware of each other. I have dragged it accross a fair amount of rocks as well, and it shows minimal wear, a few scratches, but nothing to effect the integrity of the canoe. For a 14' 7" canoe, I wish it was a little lighter though. It compares in weight to some 17' aluminum canoes, but one nice benefit to this one is the yoke that you don't get with others.
