Comments about Old Town Otter XT Kayak:
first kayak, fun, mostly used on lakes and calm rivers. a little difficult to get into for an old guy due to limited length of cockpit. increased by moving seat back approx 6" and slightly notching coaming behind seat. works fine.

Comments about Old Town Otter XT Kayak:
I did my test run on a quiet lake near my home and it steered well, was easy to get in and out of, and had plenty of room for some snacks and drinks. This was proven when I took it on the bottom Youghiogheny River for an eight mile trip, we hit some Class 1 rapids and it handled well as long as I paid attention to what was going on. It held everything two adults needed for a 3 to 4 hour trip. One thing I will say is that 37 pounds is alot heavier after paddling than before so keep that in mind. It is a very forgiving kayak as well, it slipped off the roof of my Tucson and did not have a dent in it. This definitely a great kayak for beginners.
