      I had this for a week. The lip is lined with plastic with a seal between it and the aluminum. In closing the top securely, the lip spins. This caused the seal underneath to pop out. It now leaks.

      Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

        I bought two of these at a great clearance price in the store. I love that the bottle is stainless steel and the lip is plastic, two features that drew me to it. However, about two months later the seal between the metal and plastic lip is already broken. If the bottle lays on it's side or sloshes about in any way it leaks. A lot of water also builds up in the thread of the plastic screw on lid, so there is an inevitable drip every time you drink from it.

        Luckily, it was cheap, so now it's my "at work" bottle instead of my hiking canteen.

        I got this water bottle at a great price during at sale at REI. First off, I bought this specifically to use only at work, so I don't really have any opportunities to really test its durability. I have dropped it a few times on the floor or something and it does have a ding in it. Also, the lid can be difficult to screw on like the grooves don't like each other. I like the size of the opening. Not too big like Nalgenes but still big enough to easily fit ice in it. Overall, for what I use it for it's just fine. Now for in the outdoors or something like that, I probably wouldn't recommend it b/c if your in a weird situation (like rock climbing or something) the lid would be a pain to put on b/c you have to line it up just right and it also isn't attached to the bottle.

          no problems with the lid. in fact i think it is easier to close than a nalgene. oh well - maybe the others were defective. it holds the temp well- stays cool for a long time! love it.
