Comments about The North Face Valhalla Jacket - Men's:
I was in the market for a good soft shell that I could use when backpacking/camping, climbing, and fly fishing (as well as everyday wear). I tried TNF Apex Bionic and the fit was fine, but the pockets were overlapped by my backpack waist belt and the cut-outs on the wrist straps would have gotten caught up on things. I tried the Valhalla jacket next. The asphalt gray color with red trim looks stylish without being flashy or trendy. It is a little slimmer fitting and like the previous reviewer said, the pits are cut a little on the narrow side. I'm a fairly slim guy though, so it wasn't an issue for me. The fabric was thin and lightweight, but still felt warm. The inner lining of the front pockets are perforated to double as core vents though this probably isn't needed as the jacket is perfectly breathable. The plastic pulls on the hem cords are well designed.
Considering the athletic fitment of the jacket, my main issue was with the collar which didn't have much structure to it and felt loose around the neck. I ended up returning this jacket and went with the Marmot Moran, which was in the same price range. The Moran is a little stiffer and not quite as stretchy as the Valhalla and the hem cord pulls aren't as ergonomic in my opinion. It also wasn't offered in all gray. However there is an inner pocket which the Valhalla is lacking. And fit-wise, the body is roomier, but the collar is more fitted and structured with a cord to sinch it tight when really windy or rainy (the deciding factor for me).

Comments about The North Face Valhalla Jacket - Men's:
ordered online. all of my THF shirts/jackets are large and fit me a tad loose so i have room to layer. assumed this would be the same way.
the sleeves on the large extend about 2 inches past my wrist, which i like because i can pull my hands inside if it's cold and i forget my gloves.
however, the sleeves on this jacket are unbelievable tight. so tight that the sleeves on a short sleeve shirt gets bunched up at the arm pit.
even if you can get your shirt sleeve through the arm pit area, the pits are still ridiculously tight.
i wore it a few days hoping it might stretch out a little only to have ultra sore armpits after wearing for only a few hours each day.
other than the arm pit issue, this is a fantastic jacket and is really warm for how this the material is.
i would recommend checking this out at the store and making sure you don't have the same issue i had before buying.
