Comments about Gregory Reactor Pack - '08 Closeout:

This bag appears small but is great for the summer/fall day hikes. Even with a full hydration pack there is still enough room for a book, food and some snacks. I love its pockets, you can compartmentalize everything. The only reason I gave it four stars is that its material, especially on the straps, isn't that soft. But that may be a decision made for durability.

Comments about Gregory Reactor Pack - '08 Closeout:

This backpack has everything I need for my sometimes rainy bike rides in Belgium each year. Enough room for rainpants and a rain jacket as well as gloves and wool cap. Easily fits under my rain jacket in times of rain. Very lightweight as well. I also like the feature that allows room for you to stash a biking helment on the mesh part of the pack. Allows you to walk around and not have to lug your skid lid in your hand.

Comments about Gregory Reactor Pack - '08 Closeout:

I use this to run the 6 miles to work. It carries just enough clothing to change into when I arrive - pants, underwear, undershirt, shirt, belt. I don't carry shoes because in my office, running shoes are acceptable. Carrying anything beyond light shoes in the backpack would be pushing it.

I love the mesh belt pockets. They don't always open and close as easy as one would want, but the do the trick well. The bi-directional tightening straps keep everything secure and non-bouncy.

The closeness of the back, and lack of air channels like some bags have causes my back to sweat into the backpack a great deal, but for this size backpack (small medium), a complex air channel system might be overkill.

Great for the price, especially when on sale.

Comments about Gregory Reactor Pack - '08 Closeout:

I use this pack almost every day for day hikes and long walks with my dog. The pack is very light weight and has a lot of convenient pockets--though not so many that you lose your stuff. I especially like the hip belt pockets which are great for a cell phone, lip balm, keys, cash or other items that you want to keep close.

I am small framed--5'3'' with narrow shoulders and find the pack very comfortable. The shoulder straps are at just the right angle and are very flexible with light padding. The fabric is very thin, but stiff and plasticky, making it crinkle like a plastic bag when you open it. But it makes no noise while wearing it and provides good water resistance.

One of the best features of this pack is the adjustable size. It has a very small profile and compression straps, but can pack a lot of gear if you use the front pouch. I've even fit my laptop (snugly) inside the pack, though this is not its ideal usage.

My only complaint is about the angle of the waist belt which come up higher on the waist in the front of the body than I would like. The belt clip is off to the side, so it is not too obtrusive.

It's a shame this pack is being discontinued.
