Comments about REI Mistral Pants - 34" Inseam:

I have used the Mistral pant for smaller hikes and like them. Once off trail and into technical hiking and climbing they performed well. However the seams on the legs came unstitched. This was on the 08-09 model year. Material was great and comfortable. Water resistant.

Was looking at replacing those that are coming apart. Not the same material nor are the zippers the same. Too big and bulky feeling. Also don't like the new pockets. I did not buy them.

Overall - if you don't use them too strenuously they are the extreemly comfortable and mobile.

What happened to last years model?

      When last years model went on closeout I tried to find a pair in my size, but they didn't have anymore. I asked a salesperson and they said they would have them back in soon that they had an updated version coming and that they weren't discontinuing them as they were one of REI's most popular pants.

      Well, they were... The new ones feel cheap and aren't made with Schoeller Dynamic anymore. I can't believe that REI made the new version so cheaply but want the same price as the previous model. Find a pair of pants from last year used, or find another brand that is still made with Schoeller.

      The old model was beeter this the current model. It had a pocket on the side and zippered pockets all around. It wa also re-enforced better.
