Comments about Ruff Wear Hover Craft Flying Disc:
This is the best dog frisbee ever. I have been through a dozen or more. The only thing close was the "flying squirrel". This disc flies better than any of them, retains its' shape even after my dog "tacos" it in half and can handle her gnawing at it between throws. My 45 pound Border Collie may not be as big as other frisbee dogs, but she does tear them up. I would suggest that a 25 pound poodle may do better with the 6" model or a soft, pliable indoor toy as opposed to this which is definitely built for toughness.

Comments about Ruff Wear Hover Craft Flying Disc:
Bought this for our active 80lb pitbull mix, great buy. She destroys footballs, soccor balls, tennis balls, dog frisbies and any other kind of dog toy we get her and this is the only one to last. It maintains it's shape and you can get some pretty good "hang time" with it. We use it all the time.

Comments about Ruff Wear Hover Craft Flying Disc:
Our 65 lb Shepherd mix loves the RuffWear disk, not only for outdoor play but as a pacifier around the house. The RuffWear tends to last several months despite her constant chewing and longer when we take it away while in the house. It collects dirt and water which decreases performance but once it is dry returns to good flight. Most other disks we have used are too hard for her mouth and / or do not last very long.

Comments about Ruff Wear Hover Craft Flying Disc:
Our 25 lb poodle Snickers loves to play flying disc. We used to buy plush discs but she would tear them up in a matter of days. We then discovered a Life is Good cordura nylon disc that was soft and flexible yet rugged. We bought one from REI and it lasted for a good year before wearing out. When it came time to replace it I was disappointed to discover that the Life Is Good disc was discontinued, so I ordered the Ruff Wear Hover Craft instead. It looked to be similar but is oh-so-different.
The Hover Craft is certainly rugged and it flys better than the Life Is Good disc, but it has it's downside. The disc has a semi-hard plastic center core that allows it to retain it's shape but this core is also the reason our dog does not like this disc. First, Snickers loves to catch a rocket fast flying disc and the Hover Craft is just too hard on her mouth when used that way. Also, we play quite a bit indoors due to long, rainy Oregon winters and it is very difficult for her to pick the disc up off the smooth floor. We spent some time showing her how to do it but the only way it works is for her to push the disc up against an object (wall, door, chair, etc) and then tilt it up with her nose so she can grab it. That slows down a rousing game and frustrates her.
This disc is ideal for larger dogs who like to play catch outside with a slowly hovering disc but for smaller dogs or for indoor use I would not recommend it.
