Comments about Prism Designs EO Atom Box Kite:
This kite is inherently unstable compared to Prism's other box kite designs (like the Triad), but it makes it a SUPER fighter-style kite once you get it into the air.
"The Atom can relaunch instantly with a tug of the string" is a bit misleading; it tends to land bottom side up, which I found made it dig into a grassy field. True, with enough slack and a shorter line, and some twitching in your tug, you can get it back aloft, but it's not quite that easy.

Comments about Prism Designs EO Atom Box Kite:
I got this kite because I liked the looks of it and watched the youtube videos. It looked fun and it is. It flies best in a steady moderate wind and can do some cool tricks. It's not a stunt kite or very complicated to fly, just fun. It does more than the regular diamond kite you had as a kid and it gets a lot of attention.
As the manufacturer states, it is possible to launch it by your self after it crashes by pulling the string to get it to flip over. The only problem I have come across is the seam tape around the frame can get abraded quickly and wear out from relaunching it on the ground. I found this out the hard way (thanks REI for the great return policy). I am putting some cloth tape on the top lead edges on my new one so it doesn't wear out, as it tends to lay on the top front face when it comes down.
I like that it folds flat and is easy to carry. It also comes with the line and carrying sling and clips to a day pack easily. I always have mine with me - it's a great kite.

Comments about Prism Designs EO Atom Box Kite:
Terrible kite. Tried it on the beach in varying weather conditions. Little children all over the beach with all sorts of cheap beach store kites flying very well. I have been flying kites since I was a child, and own an original Nantucket Kite Man kite. This Atom kite is just horrible. Lifts off then crashes almost immediately. Cannot stay aloft.

Comments about Prism Designs EO Atom Box Kite:
I don't know why the other reviews say this kite was hard to fly. It is the easiest kite to fly that I have ever had!!! I can get it off the ground without even trying! Maybe they didn't have enough wind?
My family really likes it because there are no pieces to lose or break. We have lots of kites that are missing just one piece and then you can't fly it anymore. Even the string has a pouch it belongs in when you close the kite up. It folds up perfectly flat to store basically anywhere. It even fits flat in the bottom of a suitcase. When we flew it at the beach, we attached glow sticks to it and it still stayed up with ease.
We own one other Prism brand kite, the Flip Kite, and it is amazing, too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of the Prism designs. He uses a wind tunnel to design them and most other manufacturers are copying from him.

Comments about Prism Designs EO Atom Box Kite:
This is a horrible kite. It's nearly impossible to launch. I have tried it in various wind conditions and it continually nose-dives to the ground. Launch from the ground? Only if launching means repeatedly lifting a few feet and then slamming itself into the earth. I am currently attempting to undo a horrid snarl in the line besides. Do not buy this kite.

Comments about Prism Designs EO Atom Box Kite:
The kite looks very cool, and the pop-open design is convenient. We were flying a traditional diamond kite, and one shaped like an airplane as well as the Prism EO Atom. Of the three, the EO Atom was the most difficult, and the diamond kite was by far the easiest. The Atom was hard to get up in the air, and once in the air, it would not stay upright. Also, after a couple of crashes, the fabric started to separate from the frame.
If you, like me, have very little prior experience with kites, get a diamond kite or one of the variations on the diamond shape: ours was shaped like a stingray, it went up the first try and never came down until we were done for the day. The Atom might be better for more experienced kite fliers.

Comments about Prism Designs EO Atom Box Kite:
Great Prism quality kite. The design is again unique and eye catching. Easy to fly and stable. Great for kids or beginners. Light pull, so make sure you use light string. My leat favorite of the Prism kites I have; Flip Kite, Stowable Diamond, or EO6, but that does not make it a bad kite. It's small size and great design make it handy and a great value. Like all the Prism kites, they cost more, but they are clearly a better value thanks to better flying characteristics and longer lasting quality.
